Description
In mythology, literature and many cultures, the Raven is seen as a culture hero, a revered and benevolent, transformative figure. The Raven helps people, blesses them with gifts and shapes the world. But at the same time, he is a frivolous trickster, a light-hearted prankster who is sometime gluttonous and impatient. The Raven as our totem works perfectly. We like to think we are creative, wise, playful and a bit bird-brained; just like those wacky Ravens.

On tap at Brouwer's Cafe for Hopfest, pours clear golden with a white head. Aroma of dry citrusy hops, bitter orange peel with a slight malt backing. Flavour is quite zesty, with dry citrusy hops and a dry, bitter finish. Excellent IPA.

Waxed bomber from Malt and Vine. Imperial Rye Stout. 8.5 % ABV. Pours very black with virtually no head, hardly even bubbles. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, dark burnt malt, and I think anise. Med body. Mild carb. Very light coffee and chocolate with some burnt malt. It’s smooth, and I think the rye kicks in at the finish rendering this dryer than expected and astringent. Very nice.

Big thanks to riversideAK for sending me this green waxed bottle. It pours pure clear gold with off white head. The aroma offers up maltiness as well as some grapefruit hops, some spicy hops and a bit of floral as well. The taste if similar although it seems blunted with age. I get some spicy hops, some pine and citrus as well with a thin layer of smooth sweet malts underneath. It seems to end with aged smooth hoppiness and sweet malts that lean more toward the malt side as a sense of roasted malts takes this into the after taste. – Probably should have cracked this one sooner.

Bottled. A hazy dark golden beer with a thin lazing off-white head. The aroma has notes of straw, alcohol, hops, and citrus fruits. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, over ripe fruits, alcohol, and hops, leading to a bitter finish, where the over ripe fruit note lingers.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of scrizzz. Pours an almost clear golden with a small white head. Sweet fruity nose with a little citrusy hops. Medium body, dry and fresh fruitiness with a metallic twang. Dry hoppy finish. Not bad but perhaps a little thin to be considered a Barley Wine. 290311
