Growler big thanks to Leighton, split at Bruce’s pad, 09/12/13. Hazed golden amber with a moderate off white head. Nose is banana, sweet sugars, pear drops, toffee, perfumed notes. Taste comprises pumpkin pie, light spice, banana loaf, light booze, rich caramel vein, sugars. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, light booze in the finish. Ok, a little overly sweet and lacking depth and balance.

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Leighton. Lightly hazy gold -amber beer. Small white head. Fresh pumpkin at the start alond with a little malt cream. Mellow spice with light sweet ester, slighty bubblegum. The spices turn more agvressive. Perfumey bubblegum finish. Slightly odd but still quite enjoyable.

Growler thanks to Leighton. It pours clear golden-amber with a small white head. The nose is pumpkin/squash, vinegar, ketchup, pretty sweet, vanilla, pear drops and some meatiness. The taste is earth, squash, toast, orange, spice, sweet pear, apple, candy and honey with a dry finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. A bit sweet and oily for my liking. Doesn’t do it for me.

Growler shared at Bruce’s in London - picked this one up last week at the brewery. Pours clear amber with a creamy, off-white head. The nose holds lots of nutmeg, pumpkin and cinnamon, with rich bready malts. Medium sweet flavor with a bit of alcohol punch, dry pumpkin, a fair amount of autumnal spices, hints of spicy cinnamon, bread. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish with lots of seasonal spices, more nutmeg, cinnamon, bread, squash. Ballsy but still drinkable and tasty.

Pours black with dark brown highlights around the edges. Soft, khaki head. It’s a thick blanket of small bubbles. Great lacing, good head retention. Lots of chocolate in the aroma with some gentle roast. Nice lactic edge. Loads of milk chocolate. The taste is similar. It’s medium sweet with lots of cocoa flavor. The relatively mild lactic note keeps the beer from getting cloying. Plus, there is very little of the cola flavor that I tend to find a bit overbearing in other examples. Mouthfeel is creamy and gentle. They filled this growler right up to the top, leaving nearly zero head space, and the beer kept very well. Pretty much perfect for the style. Very impressive stuff. I’m not the biggest milk stout fan, but this is just how I like them.
