Description
We are Grainli® - a company focussed on the trade of plant-based ressources like malting barley. Instead of just talking about other beers, we wanted to create our own beer. In cooperation with experienced brewers the brand „Barbarossa I am“ was created. We started with our four beers – 3 of them barrel-aged: Imperial Stout, Porter and Hansebock. Our Gose, while not barrel-aged also incorporates wood into the process via the oak chips it is matured on. Namesake of our beers is Friedrich the I. (nicknamed Barbarossa), who allegedly gave Hamburg the so called „Freibrief“ which enabled the city to trade in beer and grain.

Erhöhte Karbonisierung. Süßlicher, moderat herber Beginn mit trockenem Hintergrund. Herb-würzig, wenig bitter, schwache Aromatik. Süßlich bleibend, kurzer Nachhall, schwach. 8/7/7/6/10/7

Tap at the Baby Goat in the Hafencity Kitchen thing. Pale hazy golden, offwhite low cream. Very slight gariby fruity aroma. Medium to light chewy, slightly tart base. Light funky hay and leather notes, barrel chips, light flowery notes. Easy drink.

Tap at The Baby Goat, Hamburg. Clear golden, ever so slightly hazy. Peach, apple, fruity. Yes it is a bit sour, but at the same time a bit chalky dry. Not really convinced; on the other hand I ve had much worse Gose.

Warning: open over a sink! Poured from 750mL bottle. Huge gusher, lost half the bottle. Very dark brown with small beige head. Subdued roast and wood with a hint of brett, no detectable rye whiskey character. Somewhat dry, medium body. Okay as a brett imperial stout, but I don't think that's what they were going for.

0,33 l bottle, Batch 001. BB 12/28. Murky orange brown in the glass. More than one finger light tanned head. A lot of caramel on the nose, some red fruity elements in the background. Taste starts also with caramel, increasing barrel wood, winery and dry with vanilla. Wood with soft bitterness in the long lasting aftertaste. Low carbonation.

Too strong, too estery. Chili peppers give it an interesting vibe but not enough to seem necessary

Sensory Session #148: DARK golden color and No purple hints. Nice head. Some beetroat AS IT gets warmer. Crisp, some beetroat, some fuityness and a vreamy mouthfeeling. Yeah, easy drinking.
