28/10/2021. Cask at the 2021 Norwich Beer Festival. Pours clear very dark brown with a small frothy off-white head. Aroma of light roasted malt, milk chocolate, dark fruits and berries. Moderate sweetness, light roasted bitterness. Moderate body, slight watery texture, average carbonation. Pretty decent.

Cask at Norwich Beer Fest: Poured a dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is rich malty, boosty, chocolate. Taste is rich malty, chocolate, ashy, very dry finish.

Bottle, from the brewery online shop. Clear gold with a decent, bubbly white foam. Nose has a cinnamon or nutmeg like thing. TCP. Sticking plaster. Taste is pretty sweet, with not a lot else going on. Light to medium body. Fine carbonation. More sweetness to finish. Definitely would have fitted in the Spice / Herb / Vegetable category that seems to have disappeared from RB. Not for me, this one.

Bottle, via the brewery online shop. Moderate haze on a medium copper colour. Fine, lasting, white head. Nose is very strong on the lemongrass. Some slightly odd, sticky, fruited loaf malt in the background. Taste is semi sweet, with an estery character to it that sits a little out of kilter. Decent mouthfeel, albeit pretty oily. Massaging carbonation. Dry and estery finish.

Bottle, via the brewery “online shop”. Opened with a big pfft. Slow gusher. Dirty gold in the glass. Massive head of dirty white froth. It’s no looker. Nose has soapy lemon. Some orange zest. Bit of fusty grain. Taste has some biscuit sweetness. Lightly bitter. A bit of (probably unintentional) tartness. Carbonation errs toward aggressive! Light bitter finish. Poppyland are like the UK version of Fantome.

Bottle, from the brewery. Hazy, amber colour. Slim ring of off white head. Nose has a hint of rubber. Some ginger. Some herbal hop. Taste is a little sweet, turning light dry. Light to medium body is a little flabby. Low carbonation. Short, fairly dry finish. Not very gingery, and not particularly wheaty.

Bottle, from the brewery. Soft haze on a gingery gold. Fine white head has a ring of loose bubbles. Nose has a nice, jellied fruit note to it. Hint of spicy malt and yeast. Touch of sweet citrus. Taste has fruity, estery sweetness. Lightly dry. Smooth, medium bodied mouthfeel. Soft carbonation. Estery, fruity finish.

Bottle, from the brewery. Mostly clear, deep amber red. No head. Nose has rum and old wood. Hint of TCP. Some dark fruit in the background. Taste has a soft sweetness, but is mostly dry, with a light, vinous bitterness. Smooth on the palate. Low carbonation. Short drying finish.

Bottle, from the brewery. Mostly clear, coppery, ruby red. Loose bubbles settle to a fine wisp of beige. Nose has hedgerow berries. Some cracknel toffee. Hint of dried fruit. Light roast malt in the background. Taste has a light toffee sweetness, with a decent amount of vine fruit bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel. Very fine carbonation. Vinous bitterness to finish. Tasty.

330ml bottle courtesy of Grumbo, cheers Graham! Gluten Free. Deep amber colour, foamy off-white head leaving lacing and aroma of malt, fruity, earthy. Taste is smokey, malt, fruity, woody, with tangy earthy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry metallic bitter finish. Quite drinkable.
