Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, chocolate, moderate roasted. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration, chocolate, malty, light to moderate roasted, alcohol is very well hidden. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130315]

Initial tasting - March 2013: 650 ml bottle. Pours black with full tan head. Definite bourbon aroma with sweet sugary chocolate notes and a background of roasted malts. Medium-ish body. Lighter in flavor than expected; sweetened coffee, nuts/nougat, roasted malt, and bourbon. Definite alcohol warmth. Still, quite good, as one would expect from Parallel 49 and Gigantic. Worth putting a few down to see what happens. Second tasting - February 2015: 650 ml bottle. Pours black with moderate dark tan head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of licorice and light bourbon along with dark sugar. Flavors of chocolate and maple syrup, coffee, nuts, sweet malts, and light bourbon. Still very similar to the original tasting- still a light mouthfeel but maybe a little less alcohol warmth.

On tap. Pours a light yellow gold with light head. Aromas of earthy yeast, coriander, and lemon zest. Flavours more of a Belgian Wit than many Saisons, but hey is a Saison actually a style? Has an earthy resin, fresh fruit, and nice clean/sharp yeast taste. Malty finish. Quite pleasant.
