Sampled from a 750 ml brown corked bottle this beer poured a hazy apricot color with a small white head that faded quickly and left minimal lacing. The aroma was sour and tangy golden fruits and table sugar with a hint of skunk. The flavor was tangy and sour table sugar, golden fruits, bread and a hint of skunk. Medium finish. Moderately full bodied. Eh.

Orange yellow color with light head. Lots of wheat and touch of spice and yeast and some fruit. It’s preety light and watery. Taste is light and dry, little earthy with wheat finish. It’s a basic belgian beer but watery. Maybe too light.

As Brabante Blanca, bottle from wine shop in Madrid near Avenida de America, sampled straight from the bottle in Madrid - Burgos bus. Hazy pale yellow colour, small bubbles. Nose is slightly wheat, bit of citrus. Flavour is wheat, citric, bit of spices, yeasty, a bit watery. Slightly dry finish.

Bottle, Brown 33cl. Brewed on the old Gouden Boom site by Palm. Best by 13 April 2008, drank 20 May 2008, a little behind the BBD. Poured into a Hoegaarden Grand Cru stemmed tulip glass. Good deep amber, dirty old gold colour with a full slighty off-white head. Very little sediment got into the glass, but what did could be clearly seen through the otherwise misty body of the beer. Aroma of Toffee Apples and Candy Floss, was I at the fair? The taste tells you this is serious stuff, the alcohol is there straight away. Is it dry, bitter and sweet at the same time? Maybe, it doesn’t carry the Candy Floss into the taste, but toffee and cooking apples are in there. The mouthfeel isn’t right, it isn’t watery, but it isn’t rich, thick or creamy in any sence of those words either. A kind of alcoholic mix containing a headache making formula. Not sure about this, I’ve had it in Brugge and liked it a lot more than I did during the tasting, if I have another under reviewing conditions and it is a different drink I’ll re-do my review.

9/V/2012 - 33cl bottle @ 't Vosken (Gent) - BB: 28/II/15 (2012-483)

Clear deep ruby red to red brown beer, big creamy light beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: lots of sweet caramel, bit floral, dried fruits. MF: ok carbon, light to medium body, not what you expect from a dubbel. Taste: very metallic, green banana, some caramel, bitter hops, almost grassy, and sugar. Aftertaste: caramel, bitter hops. Not very exciting.

330ml bottle from 16th St. Golden pour with medium head and lots of carbonation. Light malt and hops to the nose. Crisp. Light malt and hops to taste. A little oily. Regular stuff for summer drinking.

Bottle. Clear gold with a puffy white head. Herbal aroma with orange and sugary dough. Sweet and boozy with oranges and candi sugar before distinct bitterness. Some slight oxidised / fortified wine notes that fit well enough. Fruity and slightly herbal finish. No great intrigue in this one, but cheerful and with enough bitterness to stop it from being tiring.

Pours amber with a large, lasting head.Nose shows doughy yeast, wheat, faint lemon and soft funky notes. Somewhat plain.Similar flavours, with the addition of some soft booze. Pretty drinkable stuff.Nice high carbonation.

Picked up in Brugge during a beer run, 33cl brown bottle, best before 3rd July 2011. Drank on a cold 22nd Dec 2009. Poured with gusto into a Hoegaarden Grand Cru stemmed tulip glass. A large white head sat on top of an almost clear orange/amber body which had a small cloudy swurl within, the cloud soon dissipated into the rest of the body giving the whole beer a semi-misty look. Sweet yeast aroma, light toffee and candyfloss sort of fairground smell. All the smells subside as the beer settles away from the bottle, once in the glass and warming it seemed to lose its heavy sweetness (strange because beers normally give off more flavours as they warm). The taste is far from sweet, sharp, crisp and a shock after the smell. Bitter and citrus fruits sour in the mouth. I found pink grapefruit and lemon peel in the taste. The body didn’t do it for me, lacked a true depth, decent, but not a classic Blonde. My wife is a huge fan of Palm beers, she didn’t get to try this one though, she’s at a girls only Christmas party. I’m having the Steenbrugge Dubbel next!

Brown 33cl bottle, best before 23rd March 2010, stored my me for a while but drank 1st Feb 2010. Poured into a Westmalle chalice, all of it, the sediment and whatever it contained ended up in the glass. A thin tan coloured head sat on top of a deep ruby red body. Although the head was thin it left some good lacing. The aroma was slightly sour, almost vinegarous at first, then a malty smell took over. First sip reminded me of a Rodenbach, a sour cherry sort of taste. This resemblence didn’t last long, the sour cherry flavours gave way to a dry malt bitterness (no hops evident). The alcohol content appeared towards the end of the mouthfeel as the mouth dried. Fairly high carbonisation and a little thin for a Dubbel, I however enjoyed the tasting and would definately have another.
