A big stout with a fantastic burnt malt flavor. The beer is one percent brown and the rest black. The head is a mocha cushion that puffed right up in my glass. I poured a good sized head that stuck around well. The nose is sweetly burnt malt. The notes are burnt toast, bitter dark chocolate, sweet whiskey and sugar. The flavor is brilliantly burnt malt, smoky and warm like good whiskey. The alcohol is present but meshes very well with the smoky malt flavors. The malt is bready and sweet. There might be a lingering citrus flavor. It’s burnt but smooth. Marvelous. The feel is very good. The carbonation goes well with the style and there’s little stickiness from the alcohol. I very much enjoyed this big, complex stout.

Bottle, 22oz, at RBNAG -09. It’s a hazy, orange beer topped by an off-white head. Nice piney and citrusy nose, sweet impression too. Sweet, fruity flavor with resins and white sugar, good bitterness that lasts. Full-bodied, almost sticky sweet. A beer that is really easy to like, but a bit on the sweet side. 091107

Bomber. Pours a dark brown with a medium frothy light tan head with a good sticky lacing along the glass. Roasted chocolate malt aroma with raisin. Medium mouthfeel with a smooth roasted malt with chocolate. Hides the alcohol very well making it easy to drink. A very impressive imperial stout from BVB.

Slightly muddy dark brown. Chewy, chocolatey aroma...nice basic impy. Oaty notes make for a thick, soft body. Chewy, with nice depth of warming milk chocolate. Rich, tasty stuff. Simple impy, but good.

22oz bottle bought @ Brewforia - 2009 Fresh Hop Edition
Appearance: Hazy copper/amber color with a huge frothy white head that looks like an ice cream float, tons of lacing in the glass
Aroma: Pine, grapefruit, sweet malts
Taste: Pine, citrus, sweet malts, leaves a lingering bitterness in the finish
A decent IPA, tons of hop aroma and flavor.

650 ml bottle sampled@RBNAG 2009, Vatlandsvåg. Hazy orange body with a thin off-white head. Aroma is fruity like grapefruit, peaches and oranges. Flavor is fruity like American hop varieties, specially grapefruit with a rather intense, long, green hop finish. Not really complex, but really refreshing and balanced.

Bottle: Caramel colored pour and a large, creamy sand colored head. Nose is primarily bready with a little nuts and earthy bits. Dry flavor is roasty, nutty, bready, and very light florals.

22oz bottle I bought at South Bay and shipped back to DC. Pours an opaque, slightly oily black with a creamy, frothy white head. Aroma is sweet, chocolate, licorice, earthy, spicy, a little vanilla. Flavor was sweet, bready, doughy, chocolate, coffee, nuts, toast, light citrus, tobacco. Finish is BIG on coffee bitterness with sort of a wet tobacco leave thing that wasn’t working for me. All in all, sorta average for an Imperial Stout.
