Bottle at home, 33cl. Very dark red-brown colour, like a heavy red wine. Very little head which vanishes immediately. Carbonation is very minimal. Overall appearance is very much like heavy red wine. Aroma is reminiscent of a very sweet imperial stout: extremely sweet and caramelly, complex and with a heavy body, lots of dark malts, albeit not as roasty as an impy (roastiness is there but not pronounced). Some smoke. Maybe some hints of raisins and a bit boozy. Mouthfeel is thick and heavy, smokey-sweet and very reminiscent of an imperial stout. Very smooth though. Taste is very heavy and complex, very sweet with distinct candi sugar and caramel notes. I definitely get some smoke but the dark malts rule supreme. Finishes very smooth but still boozy and very sweet. Excellent beer from maltus Faber, unlike most Belgian Strongs, this one seems a mixture between that style and an imperial stout.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Tom L’s place. Thanks Max & Stas. Dark brown with no head. Sourish aroma of caramel, balsamic vinegar, cherry, more fruits, oak, a bit of alcohol. Sweet-sourish flavor with caramel, mild vinegar, cellar, cherries, more dark fruits, oak. Medium-bodied. Very nice.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Tom L’s place. Thanks Max & Stas. Dark brown. Aroma of caramel, dark fruits, a roasty note, a bit of chocolate, oxidation, cardboard, alcohol. Very sweet flavor, with caramel, lots of dark dried fruits, demerara sugar, a bit of oxidation and a bit of alcohol. Medium-bodied. Too sweet, but decent.

Pours nice inky black with a thin layer of foam around the edges. Aroma is intriguing - roasty but with fruity/berry aromas. Has some berry vinegar/balsamico notes. Flavour is rich and roasty, also sweet and quite heavy. Not very bitter. Finishes sweet and rich and a little warming. Nice.

330mL bottle, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of leather, red wine, and balsamic -- doesn't smell like an imperial stout. Flavour brings out a mix of bitter molasses, licorice, some red wine, a little leather and balsamic. Finishes with cola and soy sauce. A lot different to typical North American impie stout. Intriguing, but not particularly impressive. Not so good.

Bottle - Woody, malt and herbal notes. Deep brown with no head. Lots of Woody notes and malts with a thin finish. Lots of wood but too thin. Abv notes are all but gone.

330mL bottle, pours a dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out a lot of balsamic vinegar, along with red wine barrels and oak. Flavour is quite complex, with balsamic, red wine and oak. Doesn't really taste like a Belgian, but it's a nice woody, vinous beer of some sort. Solid stuff.

Bottle from Birratrovo, Como
Dark brown color, headless, seemingly quite flat. In the aroma I get some chemicals, even a note of acetone; dark chocolate, sour wine. The mouthfeel is basically flat, hence a bit oily; good body strength, some malt flavor, too earthy, and I would be happier without the hint of sweet liquorice; some red wine, and some booze. Confused, but quite good.
To me, the dark chocolate and red wine don’t go very well together.
