Bottled (from Carrefour Beijing) named Tsingtao Alga Green (4.0%). Clear radioactive menthe green with a very pale green frothyhead. Lightly grassy nose. Light bodied with rather crisp mouthfeel and actually some fresh hops. Low bitterness. Looks awful, but one of the better Tsingtao versions there is.

[Canned] Pale golden, dishwater-like head. Aroma of metal and vague fruits. Sweetish with dense mouthfeel. Notes of malt, rice and glue. The vaguest hint of grassy hops. Very light bitterness. A not too bad choice while drinking in China.

[Bottled] Golden, firm head. Aroma of rice and tangerine. Sweetish with rounded mouthfeel and a whiff of glue. Vegetable finish with some light butyric acid. [Bottled] Dark brown, brief beige head. Striking coffee aroma. Sweetis with plenty of vanilla. Light bodied with clean mouthfeel. Coffee dominates, but there are some vegetables coming through. Low bitterness.

[Canned] Clear pale yellow, rich but fairly brief head. Papery malt dominates together with rice. The body is fairly light and the mouthfeel rounded. A surprising amount of grassy hops enhances the flavour and gives it it’s fair share of late bitterness. Better than most mainstream Chinese lagers.

Bottle picked up at Waitrose, Witney, July 10th 2006. Had this over the weekend. Pale golden in colour little of an aroma to be speak of. Not much bitterness, too sweet, too thin, very bland but one thing going for it is that I have had much worse. Maybe would have been better if partnered with a Chinese Meal? (but I doubt it)
