Draught, multiple locations, Qingdao
Very dark brown with a thin light brown head. The aroma is caramelly with a little bit of chocolate syrup. Light caramel notes, a bit thin, almost cracker-like character.

Sampled bottled at Wei’s Pizzeria in Kunming, Yunnan

Dark chestnut colour with a huge, thick, light brown head. The aroma has a light roastiness and appetizing leafy hoppiness. The body is moderately full with rich malty flavours of nuts, dark chocolate, and light coffee. One of the finer schwarzbiers I’ve had. 8-5-8-5-17 = 4.3

Extremely pale yellow with bleached head. Looks like Coors Light. Aroma has a grapey-appley hoppiness. No flavour, no body. It doesn’t just look like Coors Light - it IS Coors Light.

Golden colour. Taste is quite hoppy with Saaz. Aroma is lighter, more malt-accented. Flavour is balanced, bitterness is moderate. Finish is sweet, but with hop flavour. One of Tsingtao’s best brews.

Dark yellow. Watery flavour with hay and pee-like hop character and just the vaguest of malts.

Bright yellow colour. Slightly grassy hop aroma. Very light flavour. Medium body for style. There is more grassiness, but only just, in the flavour than aroma. Finish is watery and quick.

Re-rated, bottled, alc. 4.7 % (bottled 10/2007)
Golden color, creamy white head. Skunky sweet corn aroma, which is not nice. Paperboadish, quite sweet corn/rice flavor. Quickly vanishing flavor. Yes, Chinese Bud. (2/2/2/2/6 1.4)

Bottled. Dark brown, rich head. Sweet woody nose. Grapefruity hops, molasses and dark bitter chocolate. Restrained sweetness and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Lightly roasty. Hoppy bitter finish. I'm stunned. This beer is actually really good.

Bottled. Best I can say about this is it lets me paste a "China" stamp in my album of country statistics. Big foamy head at pour that hangs around too long. Pale straw color, and generic "beer" smell. Hard to get a good sip out from under the hunka foam. Taste makes me yearn for the more complex flavor profile of a Budweiser. After some effort, I can taste a little malt sweetness and a slightly bitter aftertaste. To paraphrase the old stereotype, it takes much less than an hour again for me to be thirsty... for a real beer. Again, it doesn't taste bad per se, just has no taste at all.
