Vintage 2005. 275mL bottle, courtesy of fiulijn (thanks Alex), pours a cloudy dark amber brown with a tiny bubbly white head. Aroma brings out notes of sherry-like oxidation, dark fruits, and toasted nutty caramel. Flavour is similar, with loads of liqueur-like oxidation, some unfortunate cardboard notes, toasted bready and dark fruits. Very low residual sugar. The oxidation isn't actually too off-putting, instead adding a nice character to it. Quite nice for a 10-year old beer.

Bottle shared at Leighton’s place. 25/08/2015. Many thanks to Paul for this 2005 vintage. Deep amber / orange coloured pour with frothy off white head. Viscous. Aroma is tart and funky peach, cakey malts, booze, tangy pineapple. Flavour is composed of jammy fruit, tart orange marmalade, cakey malts, pinch of sour. Viscous in the mouth and slightly dusty. Palate is chewy and viscous, sweet and sour, moderate carbonation. Lingering boozy cake. Held up really well.

Bottle shared at Leighton’s. 10 year old vintage fun time. It pours cloudy red - brown with a small white head. The nose is funky, musty, spoiled peach, stewed nectarine, sherbet, earth and damp leaves. The taste is bitter, woody, light funk, stewed orange, peach, light tartness, spice, marmalade, very earthy and kumquat with a lingering dry finish. Medium+ body and fine carbonation. Great depth a rather nice funky tartness. Has aged gracefully. Really rather enjoyable stuff. Tasty.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Plorna. Pours unclear orange with a very slight foamy head. Tangy citrus in the nose, some musty wood, light vinegar notes. Medium sweet flavor, oily, with some marmalade, light toffee, ripe orange, woody dryness, light acidity. Medium bodied, lightly chewy, with spritzy carbonation. Warming and drying in huge in the finish, with more tangy citrus, some bread, caramelised sugars. Very good stuff. Nicely layered.

275ml bottle @ Shrewsbury Bottle Share, Aug 15, many thanks to Mike! Rich, uber-slick, smooth flavours with dried dark fruits sliding out of the syrupy gloss. Remarkably well-preserved given the dust-bombs we’ve opened from this box before.

19th Aug 2015, Shrewsbury Bottle Share meeting. 275ml corked bottle, cellar aged since birth. Lovely smooth tasting brew with a sweet sherry like taste and aroma. Red/orange colour with a wisp for a head. Would have liked a larger sample (5 of us), but I had enough to know it is still a top class beer and one I would gladly pay some heavy dosh for.

2005 bottle pours a hazy deep red with some tight, off white head. Nose has apples and brandy, still some citrus, plum, raisin, toffee, musty, some wet wood. Flavor follows with a touch more roast than expected, green apple, raisin, tart cherry, light brandy. Finishes a bit boozy, but all in all, probably peaking.

2005 bottle from A.J.s. Fruity nose, fresh plums, raisins, green apple, soy, musty barrel. Reddish brown. Flat. Nicely fruity, lightly tart, salty, Worcestershire sauce, very nice cherry/berry flavors. Apple too. Interesting. flat, oily, silky. I like it, though it is a bit of a strange bird.

2005 version. Some citrus. Hazy red cloudy pour. Light tangy finish with some bitterness. Some residual malt. Low carbonation. Not something that should have been aged this long. Old bottle found at Charleston Beer Exchange.
