275ml bottle - Pours dark amber with no head. It smells of English malts with some dark fruit notes. There’s zero carbonation. It’s not what I’d call watery, but the total and absolute lack of carbonation doesn’t work well, in my opinion. Was it not sealed well to last for years? I don’t know. There’s some sourness and wine-like character to it that others have described. It’s interesting and roughly tied for the oldest beer I’ve had, but like the other one that old that I rated (a Nice Chouffe), perhaps it’s past its prime.

Bottle. Brown colour with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, alcohol, caramel. Flavour is sweet, alcohol, , fruit, lacorice.

(Bottle 27,5 cl) Hazy, amber golden with a rough, off-white head. Rustic aroma of overripe fruit. Medium body and completely flat. Distinct aroma of caramel, sherry and overripe fruit. Very subdued bitterness. An odd bird indeed, but I like it. 100507

Bottle. (vintage 2002) Unclear pour, with a golden-orange to brown color and a minimal off-white head. Beef-stock and sweetness dominates the aroma. There’s alcohol, sugar, beef-stock, some caramel and hops in the flavor. Full body with sugar and alcohol lasting quite a while. It was a quite nice beer, but it was too oxidized all the way, I guess the cork went dry and caused that, after all it was only five years old. A beer at a massive 12% ABV shouldn’t get oxidized this fast. Rating: 6-4-7-4-14-3.5. 070510

Bottle, 275ml wine cork style. An oily pour leaves a copper brown beer and a minimal sized off-white head. Vinegar, dried fruits, a hint of roasted malts and prunes, port wine, oxidation and sweetnesss on the nose. Medium body, oily on the palate. The flavor has dried fruits, some vinegar notes and a berry-like sourness. Sour and slighlty roasted finish. A tasteful beer that hides the alcohol well, but that doesn’t make it an easy drinkable one. But, as said, tasteful. 100827

Bouteille 275ml, embouteillée en 2003. De couleur brune rouge et voilée. Nez fruité aux notes sûres (raisins vineux, léger de cerises vieillies, notes de prunes, de pommes vertes et de dates), malté de caramel sucré aux notes terreuses et rôties, léger de mélasse et d’alcool liquoreux (porto) avec des notes boisées (fût de chêne) et de noix. Ronde-moyenne en bouche avec un pétillement nul et une texture vineuse et liquoreuse (légèrement sirupeuse). Goût fruité légèrement sûr (cerises vieillies, raisins vineux, léger de pommes vertes, notes de prunes, de dates et de cerises sûres) aux faibles notes acides (acétique rappelant le vinaigre) avec un léger goût boisé (fût de chêne) et des notes fumées (tabac de cigarette) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût malté de caramel moyennement sucré et rôti et aux faibles notes terreuses avec des notes de mélasse et de sucre brun parallèlement à un moyen goût d’alcool vineux et légèrement liquoreux (rappelant le porto) que l’on retrouve jusqu’en finale. Post-goût long-moyen et moyennement sec, légèrement amer d’alcool doux liquoreux et vineux (porto), léger de rôti, avec une aigreur fruitée (moût de raisins et de cerises, pelures de pommes) et un léger goût boisé (fût de chêne).

Bottle at KØ07. Very sweet, oxidized prune aroma. Clear red/brown colour. No head. The flavour starts off citric, turns sweet and then dried fruity. Very vinous and oxidized, with some alcohol notes. Very long raisin aftertaste. I just do not like old beer.

The 9.3oz bottle poured clear copper with zero head. In the aroma I get hints of olive brine, pale ale maltiness, dark fruitiness with big notes of plums, raisins and dates soaking in sugary alcohol. Not much carbonation in the mouth feel. The flavor has a nice barleywine feeling and taste with sweet dark fruit, some red wine grape tartness, hint of olives, molasses and pale malts. Very nice.

Bottle. Vintage 1996. Dark black body with no head. Very low carbonation. Sweet rum soaked fruit and molassas aroma. Sweet rum soaked fruit and caramel flavor. Quite tasty after over a decade.

No date on the bottle. I’ve had it for about 2 years. Aroma of dark fruit. Kind of an off prune aroma. Hazy ruby amber color with floaters. No real head. Starts a bit vinous, a bit thin, a bit caramel. Finishes a bit pruny, with hop. It develops some other fruity characteristics with passage of time. Tends towards puckerish. Perhaps a bit woody. It doesn’t get better than this, unless Fullers gets into a retro mode.
