(Cask at Holy Tavern, Clerkenwell, London, 20 Nov 2024) Golden amber colour with foamy, off-white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with notes of citrus, mixed fruit, grass and peaches. Fruity nose with mixed fruit, peaches, grass, citrus, white bread and a balanced citric/grassy bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Clean and crisp. Nice one.

500ml bottle. Quasi black colour with weak ruby shimmer and average, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Sweet-ish, minimally artificial, fruity and minimally soapy aroma, dark malty background, notes of plum, overripe plum. Taste is bitter, chocolately and roasty, dark malty, sweet.-ish, slightly artificially fruity, notes of plum and chocolate.
Watery texture, minimally dry palate, medium, mildly prickly carbonation.
Rather sweet and slightly artificial, nice plum touch nevertheless - OK.

Bottle, amazed it's not reviewed. Nose is treacle, soy, tar, hint of anise. Taste is big soy, bitter herbal hop, smoke, and pronounced licorice. Shock

As I can't seem to upload my previous ratings from another site I'm starting again and rating everything.
Good pour but perhaps a bit cold from being stored in my garage. I love this beer, hops, malt, spice and rich fruit. A proper English strong ale.

Nice bottle: just what the doctor ordered! Jet black with a dark tan head. Finely porous head: appears stable. Lovely nose: dark milky sugary coffee, cocoa, blackcurrant cordial. Taste doesn't pack quite the same punch. Coffee and cocoa, some vanilla. Nice lingering finish. Not very thick and oily. Very good.
