This Scottish ale poured a deep red colour with a creamy, light tan coloured head. Nice lacing. Scents include toffee, earth, light toast and a little must. First swig was smooth and flavourful with tastes of malt, light cough drops, a little cardboard and minimal hops. Finish is very malty with light hop flavours lingering. --- Beer merged from original tick of Highlander Scottish Ale on 12 Dec 2012 at 18:14 - Score: Appearance - 4 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 6.5. Chocolate malt and hay aroma. Black with moderate tan head. Mildly sweet, lightly smoky chocolate malt, and mildly bitter hay flavor. Okay body. Very light smokiness.

Hazy golden-amber colour with a pinkish hue. The head is white, frothy, good stay and leaving some foamy streaks of lacing. Juicy, fruity aromas with berries and some light grassiness from the hops. Some particles floating around. The taste is juicy, fruity again with not too much sweetness, because of the hops. Mild bitterness and dryness in the finish. A refreshing, fruity - not too sweet beer.

A deep dark porter with a very thick creamy lacing brown head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with light peated notes, OK. In mouth, sweet chocolate malt with dark fruits, light peated notes, OK. Bottle bb Feb 2014.

From my brother: pours brown with beige head. Aroma is toast, some caramel, earthy. Taste is thicc, malty, toasty hops. Quite chewy.

Blacksmith Smoked Porter 6.5% Cola black in color with red highlights and an aroma of roasty chocolate. Where's the smoke? The taste is nutty chocolate and oats. Alright but so not smokey. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft - Lots of sweetness and honey like notes. Clear gold with a decent white head. Herbal, sweet and grassy with a long finish. Different, but ok.
