No idea why we bother with the version number. Nowhere on any label or pump clip is it mentioned. Bottle. Beer Central Sheffield. Mostly clear gold. Decent white foam stays the course. Nose has lovely fresh hop. Notes of pineapple flesh and pithy grapefruit. Bit of pine. Clean dry biscuity malt in the background. Taste is fresh clean pithy citrus bitter. Bright and lively mouthfeel. Brisk fine carbonation. Bright sharp citrus bitter finish. NR on form.

Cask at the Pup and Duckling, Solihull. Poured a clear golden colour with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is malt, yeast, light woody hops. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a smooth, malt, yeasty, light citrus, light woody hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation.

Cask at Alexandra, Derby. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small tan head and excellent lacing. Plenty of coffee in the aroma, plus lactose, oats and roasted malts. In the mouth it is sweet and creamy with pretty much the same flavours as the aroma – though coffee not so dominant. Later on some nuts come through plus hints of liquorice, chocolate and almonds. Finish is quite fruity. This is really nice – best beer of the day !

Cask @ Salopian, the pub. Pours black, small beige head. Sweet liquorice and soft roast aroma. Modest ashy roast with a sweet liquoricey side Irish-stout heads may scoff at but I really like it. Really nice stout.

Cask at the Fat Cat Brewery Tap, Norwich, 27/01/24. Clear golden with a just off white cap that retains well. Nose is earthy fruits, orange peel, melon, grass. Taste comprises tangerine, mandarin, melon, soft malts. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close splashed with mellow hop bitterness. Okay cask pale.

Gravity cask at the Fat Cat Brewery Tap, Norwich, 27/01/24. Black with a khaki cap that thins edgewards. Nose is chocolate, hazelnut, vanilla, light roast, earthy. Taste comprises mellow roast, brown sugar dusting, Cadburys Whole Nut, dark malts, toffee. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, light drying close. Tidy cask porter.

Cask at the Blue Boar, Leicester. Mid- to dark gold and clear. Small white head. Scent of white grape with sweet woody notes. Taste is bittersweet, a great balance full of hop. Waxy hitter finish. Body is a little oily with soft carbonation. This review doesn't do it justice. A very good beer.

Cask at the Kelham Island Tavern, Sheffield on 14th February 2024. Almost impenetrably black with tan foam and spot lacing. Deep roasty malt aroma. Dark chocolate, bitter coffee and just the hint of smoke in-mouth. Roasty finish with smokiness. Full bodied with a smooth mouthfeel.

Cask at The Star & Garter, Bromley. Black pour with a beige head. Definitely an Irish coffee nose, splosh of caramel, chocolate, cocoa. Taste is Irish coffee, chocolate caramel, raisin, burnt toast, touch of smoke. Smoky sweet finish.

Friday 16th February 2024, Prince of Wales, Shrewsbury; Cask Beer Festival. Hand-pulled half-pint. Clean and clear golden pour, white crown. Floral aroma with a lemon citrus taste, yet another golden citrus flavoured beer!
