Exmoor Ales – brewing quality cask and bottled ales from the edge of Exmoor National Park since 1979

Brewery suffered financial problems and in April 2025 were bought by Hogs Back. Brewing moved to Hogs Back until a move to the former Cotleigh Brewery site in September 2025.

Cask at the standing order. Pours clear amber, nose is floral, orange, toffee, taste is sweet, light lemon, floral.

Cask handpull at The Eight Bells JDW Dover. Clear amber colour lasting beige head. Some biscuit malt. Not much hop. A little grassiness. A bit disappointing. A slightly hoppy bitter.

Cask, half pint. Tasted on the 30/01/2018 at "The Windmill (Wetherspoon)" Stansted (England). Clear golden with a medium head. Aroma of sweet malts, toffee and caramel. Taste is malty and bready leading to medium sweet finish. Next one please!

Cask @ Crosse Keys, London. Nice head with good duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are fruits, flowers, malt and hops. Light bitter finish.

Cask up the White Lady. Pours clear amber with a thick creamy head. Aromas of light toffee and hazelnuts. Taste is light sweet, malty, caramel. Faint balancing hops. Light mineral note on the finish. Solid esb.

Tried at Victoria lincoln. Deep ruby colour with an off white head. Aroma has lots of dried fruit with toffee. Taste more toffee sweetness. Full body.
