Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford. Pours a dark chestnut with a small off-white head. Sweet malts to the fore in the aroma, alongside hints of fruit and chewy toffee. In the mouth it starts off fruity and slightly sweet with a creamy texture, flavours of raisins, cherries and hints of herbs and citrus. Some traditional hops come through later. Finish is fruity and slightly bitter. This is rather nice – a good old no-nonsense bitter.

Cask at the Gordon Highlander. It pours clear very pale yellow - blonde with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is quite fresh, green, grassy, floral and sweaty vibes. The taste is firmly dry, crisp, light bitterness, grassy, herbal, quite clean, crackery malt, slightly floral dull twist of citrus, melon and pear with a drying finish. Lighter end of average body and fluffy cask carbonation. Actually not too bad. Drinks well.

Cask at Moon Under Water, Wolverhampton. Pours a hazy golden yellow with a small white head and good lacing. There’s citrus and hints of pine in the aroma. In the mouth it is sweet, malty and somewhat matery. Traces of lemon and lime, which gradually increase introducing some bitterness and hints of grapefruit and kiwi. Some stickiness in the finish. This is reasonable and quite refreshing, but a touch on the bland side.
