16 oz can - I got this brew in Burlington awhile after the sad news that the Alchemist had been wiped out by flooding. However their recently built cannery survived. The bar I visited was excited to have just gotten in this beer and the locals were quickly buying them out. Anyway, this brew has a big, piney hop aroma. It has good balance if we can say that about an IIPA. Sure it’s very bitter but there’s plenty of malt body there too. Citrus and pine notes add to a very pleasing beer experience.

From the Brewery from the tap and can: Pours a hazy orange color with a nice white head. Aroma is a veritable explosion of hops: you get the citrus, the pine, and the flowers all together. Taste is wonderful. Bitterness is present, but it pales in comparison to the aroma. Basically, you get a huge variety of hops and hop flavours. A little bit sweet, but the maltiness is really held in check as compared to other DIPAs. In fact, it would be hard to tell that this is DIPA were it not for the huge amount of flavor. Great aftertaste that lingers and invites additional sips (unlike some hoppy beers that do the very opposite). Body is excellent. Drinkable, sippable, and delicious. Yes. Amongst the best hoppy beers I’ve ever had.

Thanks to Ernesto987 who sent this for SS. Can. Pours hazy dark yellow with lots of floaties under a sticky, 3-dimesnsional head of off-white. Grapefruit hop aroma. The flavor is pure citrus hops. Hop-Juice, but very well done hop juice. Enough subtle underlying malt sweetness to carry the hop flavors. I like this one.

Sampled bottle. Poured a light clear caramel color with a wispy off-white head. Aroma had a touch of alcohol, was very malt-forward. Flavor was tasty, malt notes, grapes? Yeah, that’s it...

Can shared by Paul at tasting at my house. Pours cloudy apricot with off white head. Nose/taste of mango, citrus, hops, tropical fruits and freshly cut grass. Tons of mango and tropical fruit in the nose. Finishes slightly dry. Bottle on the lighter side. Overall, this one definitely lives up to the hype.

Can @ Dan’s house, courtesy of doodler. Huge thanks! Cloudy, yellow orange appearance with an orange tinged off white head. Slightly resiny, piney, organic hoppy, citrusy aroma. Very nice, piney, somewhat resiny, hoppy, tasty citrusy flavor. Awesome!

Update: This is my third time drinking this beer (courtesy of Glouglouburp. Thanks Dany!) It has an even more intense piney, resiny aroma with a slightly dull citrus element than I remember. Huge fucking resiny, grapefruity, sticky hoppy flavor. Sure this fucker is a little over the top, but it’s fun. My next trip to Vermont I will be getting blasted on this shit.

Another update: This one comes from nightrider, a friendly trader in California that has gotten me my freshest can yet! This can has traveled 5,000 miles and it’s the freshest one I’ve had, go figure.Super resiny, piney, grapefruity hoppy aroma. More potent that I remember. Soft mouth feel. Very sappy, resiny, richly piney, grapefruit citrusy, floral hoppy flavor. Very fresh hops. Nice as always.

12/12/12/11/9/12

From ~16oz can. Poured a moderately hazy amber/orange color. Aroma had a very "weed"-like character, which I particularly don’t enjoy that aroma much, the beer still had a pleasant one. Flavor has a touch of biscuit yeast notes. Alcohol is hidden extremely well within this brew.
