Description
It’s too easy to let life become predictable and settle for the ordinary. Luckily though, Orchard Pig is no ordinary cider. It all began in a Somerset shed, surrounded by the best West Country apple trees and free roaming Old Spot pigs. But, whilst every orchard has apples, not every orchard has Old Spot pigs. We believe our free-spirited attitude is the magic ingredient which makes every pint of Orchard Pig taste so refreshingly different to all the rest. Not your average apples, not your average pig. Orchard Pig. It’s a rare breed.

Bottle from Wyevale garden centre, Bicester, 29-05-09 Pours a reddy gold, almost rust like colour with a medium carbonation. Aroma is woody and soft apple pulp, touch of overipe apples. Taste is initially quite sweet but good depth of flavour, really dessert appley, reminds me of Cox’s. This is soft in the mouth but quite tannic with gums really getting the once over. I enjoyed this, there is no denying this is on the sweet side of medium but nonethess it was very enjoyable. A7 A4 F7 P4 Ov14 3.6

750ml bottle from Waitrose, Bristol. Pale gold in colour with moderate sparkle. Dryish, barnyard aroma with some tart apple fruit. An easy drinking cider, with plenty of apple juice flavour, alongside some tartness with gave way to some sugar in the finish. Ok.

750ml bottle from Corks, Bristol. Pale gold in colour with a touch of sparkle. Juicy, dry apple aroma with a hint of yeast and sulphur. Easy drinking, with clean, dryish apple fruit, and a decent dry finish. A bit clinical and probably came off worse due to being sampled straight after Ermie and Gertie’s more characterful farmhouse cider.
