Description
It’s too easy to let life become predictable and settle for the ordinary. Luckily though, Orchard Pig is no ordinary cider. It all began in a Somerset shed, surrounded by the best West Country apple trees and free roaming Old Spot pigs. But, whilst every orchard has apples, not every orchard has Old Spot pigs. We believe our free-spirited attitude is the magic ingredient which makes every pint of Orchard Pig taste so refreshingly different to all the rest. Not your average apples, not your average pig. Orchard Pig. It’s a rare breed.

Bottle from Waitrose and drunk at home in front of the football. Clear gold no real head. Apple juice aroma and flavour. Medium sweet I’’d say. No great dryness or tannin or other interest, but perfectly drinkable and pleasant. Yes drinkable enough if fairly forgettable

Cask @ Trades Club, Hebden Bridge. Pale golden with no head. There’s several English fruits evident with a strong lingering aftertaste. The apple is potent and sweet in its aroma.

Bottle from Waitrose and drunk on the train to Ashford. Clear gold lasting white head. Dry aroma. Dry apple cider throughout. Wow. You don’t tend to get this aggressive dry parching cider in a supermarket. Rather remarkable. I must admit I really like it. Funny as it’s best drink I have had today. Sweet apple fruit and then a dessicating finish. Finish is really good

On keg at the Guildford Arms. Appearance - golden and sparkling. No head. It’s a cider. Nose - apples and alcohol. Taste - stewed apples with a tangy zing from the carbonation. Palate - medium bodied with a tangy texture and a long dry finish. It’s a cider Overall - somewhere around the midpoint.

500ml bottle at home. Label says "a riotous celebration of apples" which is a slight exaggeration.. it’s nice, light and green apple sweet but just a bit thin on the ground for me.

500ml bottle. One of those ciders I put off opening for a while due to the patronising, truly irritating description and ’pig’ references on the bottle. Open it up however and it’s actually a great cider. Well-balanced with a little touch of barnyard funk, a tang of acidity, a tanic nod and crisp, sweet apple flavours that blossom as you make your way through. Very nice.

Bottle from Hog & Partridge, St Neots. A light yellow cider with less carbonation that would normally be expected. Lovely aroma of woody funk and fruit. The taste is sweeter than the aroma promises, too much like a commercial keg cider but still nice. Worth drinking for cider-heads.

500ml bottle from Cider Tap, Euston. Clear pale yellow golden colour, sparkling but no head to speak of, and aroma of fruity apple. Juicy apple flavour with some sweetness and alittle tartness. Slightly oily mouthfeel, light to medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, dry finish. Straightforward but enjoyable cider.
