Bottle from Bottles & Books. Hazy ruby body with a thick beige head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of raisin, red grapes and wood. Flavour of earth, coffee and steel. Thin body with a slick texture. Weak fizz. A bit too sharp.

Cask-conditioned at the Punchbowl (JDW) in York, February 2020. golden pale ale, with a touch of leafy hop, stone fruits, digestive malts and a lingering, bitter, finish. good.

Cask-conditioned at the Duck & Drake, Leeds 12/2/2020. Golden in colour, with a tight, white, head. An easy drinking pale ale with a touch of citrus character, leafy hops, crisp malts and moderately bitter finish. Fine.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford Pours a very dark reddish brown with a tight cream head and good lacing. Plenty of vanilla in the nose. Taste is of liquorice and dark fruits, with some coffee hints and a creamy texture. So far so good, but it is let down by the finish with is of disgusting stale fag-ash. Nice beer – until the end !

500ml bottle from Mitchells Wines, Meadowhead - Dull cola like body, no head. Nose is roasty as expected. Taste has a bit of dried cocoa powder, little bitterness.

Cask-conditioned, at the Punch Bowl, (JDW), York October 2019. Deep amber in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Leafy hops, a touch of red berry and tangerine, slightly toasty malts and a moderately bitter finish. Good.

Tried at the York Beer Festival. Black colour with a thin head. Aroma is roasted malt but with an underlying tangy sourness. Taste has very little malt but more of that weird sourness. Medium body. Not my thing.

Bottle. Dark brown in colour, with a beige, creamy, head. Aroma od prune, leafy hops, plain chocolate and charred malts. Flavour had some brown sugar, a creamy edge, more chocolate and a toasty finish. A pleasant, sweetish, stout.
