Bottle pour from Total Wine & More, W. Hollywood. Opaque, inky dark brown with light sparkle, no head or lacing. Aroma is base stout/pastry, cinnamon, vague background bourbon. Taste is strong, raisiny sweet stout, cinnamon, vague bourbon. Smooth, frothy texture, medium bodied, soft carbonation and finish as taste. This could have used some more churros. NOT! How about half as much churros? Base stout/bourbon obscured. Too churro.

Bottle pour shared by ClarkVV--thanks Clark! at OT Camp tasting. Opaque, inky black, nice viscosity with ring of head, no lacing. Aroma is strong earthy roasted stout, amalgam of nuts, coconut, mild vanilla. Taste is strong roasted malt, nuts, mild vanilla, coconut and tart fruit(?). Smooth, silky texture, soft carbonation, finish as taste. Not hugely complex but good.

375 ml bottle, 2023 vintage. Thank you Clrakvv. Aroma of walnut, toasted almonds. Flavor shows all the roasted nuts with soft chocolate. Nice flavor. Yet, alcohol shows itself just a touch. A touch sweet. Still a nice drink.

2023 bottle drunk 9/20/25.
Clear and dark. Viscous but a bit of head.
Starts out very earthy and dry but begins to open up almost immediately. Gets rich, nutty, lightly sweet with lightly sweet, mildly spicy bourbon and lingering nut paste. No alcohol noted.
Chocolate, caramel, lots of toffee and vanilla. Very English with big nut paste and sweetness. Spicy bourbon and soft vanilla. Very classic bourbon stout with not too much nuttiness, honestly. Very, very tasteful adjunct. Maybe gets a shade too sweet, but it's rich and lovely with an excellent cherry and vanilla bourbon spice.

500 ml shared by Tom! Aroma is mild coffee, light chocolate and a touch of dough like malt. Flavor follows. Maybe a trace of sugar. Alcohol is hidden. Body is full and thick. A nice stout.

2023 bottle shared by tfontana on 9/20/25.
Dark, clear, mega-viscous, no head.
Kind of smells like pastry flour, donut but there's definite, albeit not huge bourbon. Lightly sweet, rich, with caramel and vanilla. Some cherry in there, too. Easygoing, well-aged, no booze. No weirdness going on from the donuts.
Cherry, vanilla, pastry flour and easygoing, sweet bourbon. Light fudge and dark chocolate. This could be a lot worse for being brewed with donuts. Kind of just feels like a normal bourbon barrel impy. And it's soft, chewy, not boozey or too sweet. Donuts maybe cut the usual syrupy, thick BL texture a bit.

Bottle from Total Wine & More, W. Hollywood. Virtually opaque, inky dark brown, nice viscosity. Aroma is strong sweet donut frosting/sprinkles, bourbon. Taste is strong base slightly earthy, roasted stout, sweet donut, bourbon. Smooth, thick texture, full bodied, soft carbonation, finish as taste. Donuts/sprinkles don't add that much except vague sweetness. More like a straight BBA stout. Good but not great.

500 ml shared by Tom! Aroma is well, traces of pineapple with soft char. The coconut is forward and does show some pineapple throughout. Then the softest traces of barrel. Mild spice hints in the finish. Very unique!!

2022, batch 1, shared by tfontana on 9/20/25.
Pours like syrup with no head.
Pineapple! Vanilla bourbon notes and maybe some mango rind. Round sugars and easygoing, old bourbon notes. Surprised there's this much fruit in the nose. No alcohol.
Oh damn, that's nice! The rich, thick but properly barrel-attenuated/aged texture really does work here, with a delightful bourbon and char barrel character balancing the sweet, toasty coconut and mango. Not tons of barrel but close to enough. Lingering tannin/oak and light bourbon spice. That texture is out of this world. Done like few else can do it.

Bottle from Total Wine & More, W. Hollywood. Inky, opaque black, viscous, syrup-like. Aroma is strong pineapple, coconut, mango. Taste is strong pineapple and coconut, base stout, late mild bourbon--nice balance. Smooth, thick texture, full bodied, no alcohol, finish as taste. Different! Bought with trepidation but glad I did! Very nice. Barrel could have been more present but maybe good that it lets other aspects to shine.
