Cask at Sheffield Tap, Sheffield on 14th February 2015. Clear amber with thin off-white lacing foam. Fruity, malty aroma. Biscuit malts and fruitiness in-mouth with delicate grassy notes. A malty finish becoming bitter. Fair-bodied with a smooth, light mouthfeel.

Cask at Sheffield Tap, Sheffield on 14th February 2015. Gold with thin white lacing film. Citric grapefruit and lemon aroma. Fruity citrus in-mouth with grapefruit, lemon sherbet and berries. Lasting fruity citric finish. Zingy mouthfeel and a fair amount of body.

Cask. Sheffield Tap. Clear gold. Dense, thick, glossy topped, sticky, white head. Big citrus notes. Boiled lemon. Some grass. Solid malt backbone. Drinks a little heavy. The citrus notes come across a little sweet. Turns bitter on the finish. It’s tasty, definitely, but lacking a bit of light crispness.

Cask at the Sheffield Tap on 14th February 2015. Sepia-black with pale tan foam. Roasty aroma. Rich and intense roastiness in-mouth with coffee and bitter chocolate; slight citrus on the tongue. Lasting roasty malt finish. Fair amount of body and an engaging texture.

Cask. Sheffield Tap. Clear, chestnut brown. Thin, messy, off white head. Nutty. Raisin fruity. Boozy. Rich toffee in there. It’s vinous, with plenty of bitter fruits. Taste is heavy sweet. Turns dry, then long bitter. Rich, full, boozy palate. Finishes rich, sweet, and boozy. Light biter close. This was brewed two years ago, and then cellared. I’d loved to have tried it fresh, but as it is, this is a really nice barley wine now. Full of flavour. Plenty of oomph. Very nice. Brewed with Kissmeyer, if I recall correctly.

Cask. Sheffield Tap. Clear, dark gold. Thick, dense, white head. Huge herbal, medicinal, stewed tea aroma. Almost coffee like. Really quite unusual. Taste is syrupy sweet. Turns full, grassy, herby bitter. Full palate. Long, big bitter finish. An oddity. Not for me, though.

Cask. Sheffield Tap. Clear, very dark brown. Bubbly, clingy, beige head. Chewy, chocolate, fudgy malt. Light, savoury smoke. Taste is sweet, turning dry. Lots of chilli heat on the palate. Makes your ears itch! Very easy drinking, though. Finishes light bitter, with the heat staying an age. Really liked this.
