Description
Blue Bee Brewery is an independent brewery in the heart of the valley of beer in Sheffield, England.
Blue Bee was set up in 2010 by Richard Hough, former head brewer at Abbeydale, who has also done stints at Acorn, Crown, Spire, Raw and Marble. Starting his own brewery allows him to use this invaluable experience on his own terms, creating beers that are noted for “quality, consistency and with a slight addiction factor”. In 2014 the business was acquired by Reet Ale Pubs, which runs three pubs in Sheffield.

Cask-conditioned at the Lime Kiln, Bristol November 2023. Near black in colour, with a tight and creamy, beige, head. Plenty of plain chocolate, some liquorice and blueberry sweetness, leading to a charred, toasty, finish. Enjoyable.

Cask @ Blake Hotel, Sheffield. Light golden with a small head. Blonde style beer, hoppy, slightly dry texture and aftertaste, and tasty enough.

Hand-pulled pint at the Wrekin on 2nd March 2024, Charter Day. Clean and clear golden body, white crown. Orange like citrusy aroma and taste, some malt action but it's mostly a citrusy blonde.

Cask @ Fox & Goose, Hebden Bridge. Clear golden with a frothy head. Hoppy as expected, easy enough strength, quite full tasting though with a hint of dryness to proceedings. Has a very light bitterness.

Cask. Handpump. Steel City Beer Festival. Fourth Blue Bee and this one was a bit of a let down. Decent hoppage and drinkability but there were rubbery notes throughout.
