500ml bottle. Clear, deep golden colour with small to average, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Fruity aroma, notes of red and yellow apples. Taste is minimally grainy, fruity notes of red and yellow apples. Simple but nice.

Bottle. A clear, brown beer topped by a small, dense, light beige head. The aroma is coffee-roasted with some chocolate and notes of prunes. It’s medium bodied, dryish and nicely carbonated, with coffee doing most of the work flavor wise. Dark dried fruits and chocolate as well. The hops haven’t been added in abundance. Roasted, coffee-ish finish. An easy drinkable and a bit boring one. 130405

(Cask at Bree Louise, Euston, London, 20 Nov 2013) Reddish brown colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of rye bread, orange peel and dried fruit. Malty, fruity taste with dried fruit, rye bread, orange peel and slightly dusty hops in the finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Well balanced and tasty rye ale. Quite nice.

Bottled 500ml ABM. Deep ruby color, decent beige head, some lace. Aroma has coffee, rye bread, cough syrup. Medium-bodied. Very bready, ryeish, dark malty porter. Light menthol hops. A bit weird.

Clear copper color, good beige head. Brown sugar caramelly malty nose with mentholy hops. Light to medium bodied. Malty, light caramel, some grassy hoppyness in the finish. A bit empty palate. Quite lame English bitter.

Cask handpull at the Bree Louise - London. Pours clear, golden-brown with a lasting, creamy tan cap. The aroma has bready malts, berries and toast. Light sweet flavor with brown bread, faint earth, toffee, ripe fruits. Medium bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Light sweetness to finish with low bitterness, further bready malts, some ripe fruits, figs. Decent.

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Lightly hazy amber beer with a small pale cream coloured head. Smooth palate. Mild dried fruits. Smooth malts. A bit shallow. Lacks the malty depth and maturity of a good barleywine.
