Description
Oakshire is a is a community inspired small batch brewing company privately owned by the family and friends of our company’s founders. Oakshire operates a small, 4,000 square-foot production brewery in Northwest Eugene, as well as the Oakshire Public House in Eugene’s Whiteaker neighborhood and the Oakshire Beer Hall in the Concordia/Cully neighborhood in Northeast Portland.

Eugene was chosen as Oakshire’s location in part due to the accessibility of clean, soft water from the McKenzie River. Since 2013, Oakshire Brewing has partnered with our local land conservation group, the McKenzie River Trust. One percent of Watershed IPA sales revenue is set aside for the protection of local watersheds in the territories where the beer is sold, helping to preserve the clean water that is so vital to our community and our beer.

Sampled on tap at PIB, pours dark amber brown with a tan head. Aroma of red wine, light hops and sour fruits. Flavour of sour fruits, funk, vinous qualities - sour fruits / red wine finish. Tastes nothing like a Black IPA, more like a sour. Decent, though some of the qualities don't mesh together that well.

This beer seemed all over the map. It didn’t taste much like a Belgian ale from Belgium, or even from the Belgian style brewers in the States. It has a bit of bubblegum, a bit of hop and ’n bietje sweet caramel malt. Still a rather interesting beer. Perhaps the best thing to do would to be order a pitcher and sip it over an evening.

Draft at Upright’s tasting room, just marked as "Oakshire IPA," so I’m not sure which IPA. Going with the numbers here. This one has an extreme grass aroma and the taste was like standing in a meadow eating lemons. Good stuff.
