Description
Oakshire is a is a community inspired small batch brewing company privately owned by the family and friends of our company’s founders. Oakshire operates a small, 4,000 square-foot production brewery in Northwest Eugene, as well as the Oakshire Public House in Eugene’s Whiteaker neighborhood and the Oakshire Beer Hall in the Concordia/Cully neighborhood in Northeast Portland.

Eugene was chosen as Oakshire’s location in part due to the accessibility of clean, soft water from the McKenzie River. Since 2013, Oakshire Brewing has partnered with our local land conservation group, the McKenzie River Trust. One percent of Watershed IPA sales revenue is set aside for the protection of local watersheds in the territories where the beer is sold, helping to preserve the clean water that is so vital to our community and our beer.

22 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours almost pitch black color with a 1 finger dense tan head with nice retention, that reduces to a nice dense cap that lingers. Some nice spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas of dark chocolate, coffee, caramel, roasted malt, vanilla, cream, biscuit, and light herbal hops. Nice and well balanced stout aromas with good strength. Taste of chocolate, coffee, dark roasted malt, biscuit, caramel, molasses, vanilla, cream, and light herbal. Light coffee bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, caramel, coffee, vanilla, roasted malt, biscuit, and herbal hops on the finish for a short bit. Great balance of flavors, with a nice amount of robustness. Medium carbonation and body; with a nice creamy and slightly slick mouthfeel. Alcohol presence is pretty much invisible as expected for 5.8%. Overall this is a damn nice coffee stout. A lot of well balanced flavors; with a very smooth and creamy mouthfeel. I really have no complaints. Really well done.

Sample at the Tap House Grill in Seattle. This beer pours brown with a medium khaki head that diminishes steadily. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Roasted malt and mild hops in the nose. Light to medium body with flavors of caramel malt, grain and hops. The finish is sweet with a toffee and malt aftertaste. Pretty average overall.

22oz bottle pours an oily, opaque black with some thin, brown head. Nose is chocolate covered expresso beans, a little blueberry, vinous. Flavor is odd, acetic, cherry, grape juice, watered down, balsamic, some stale coffee. Medium bodied, astringent finish.

Bottle. Pours caramel brown. Tan head. Nose/taste of candied dark fruit, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, vanilla and nuts. Finishes with hint of warming alcohol. Medium body could be a little fuller given the ABV.
