Description
Oakshire is a is a community inspired small batch brewing company privately owned by the family and friends of our company’s founders. Oakshire operates a small, 4,000 square-foot production brewery in Northwest Eugene, as well as the Oakshire Public House in Eugene’s Whiteaker neighborhood and the Oakshire Beer Hall in the Concordia/Cully neighborhood in Northeast Portland.
Eugene was chosen as Oakshire’s location in part due to the accessibility of clean, soft water from the McKenzie River. Since 2013, Oakshire Brewing has partnered with our local land conservation group, the McKenzie River Trust. One percent of Watershed IPA sales revenue is set aside for the protection of local watersheds in the territories where the beer is sold, helping to preserve the clean water that is so vital to our community and our beer.

Bottle thanks to Adam! Pours a clear deep brown with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice pine note with backing toasted malts and dark grains. Flavor with some roasted malts and dark grains with a really nice pine hop note.

Bomber from Belmont Station. Pours brown/black with a slight bubbly dark tan head. Aroma of very dark chocolate and bourbon/coconut. Full bodied. Flavor is extremely dark chocolate - tho smoot - with bourbon/vanilla/coconut - but there’s a persistent sour aspect. Maybe it’s excessive oak. I think coffee is present, but hard to be sure. The sour aspect tends towards plum/prune. This is pretty complicated stuff, and it’s definitely not simple flavors. With time the sour submerges into the other flavors. Very different. Halfway thru the bomber: Now aroma and flavor have a lot of coffee. This stuff seems to change with time.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours orange tinged gold with a white smear for head. Light citrus aroma. Near medium body. Definitely rye in the flavor and there’s a fair amount of citric bitter. The combination is pretty tasty.

Tap at Belmont Station - turbid gold - thing, compact lace - rather mellow nose for a sour - a bit of sweet white wine, vanilla and oak, light acidic notes - flavor is balanced and mellow for a sour - a bit of an acidic tang up front, followed by moderate to strong notes of semi-sweet white wine, grape skins, mild oak - light acetic notes through the middle - very mild funk - finishes semi-sweet, with some apple, pear, vanilla - a nice sour.

Oakshire Wild Evil: Wild Brett. Bottle at the GABF Farm Table pavilion. Pours with a hazy orange to yellow body with a medium sized white head. Aromas are very funky, jammy, nectarine, leather, earthy, brett and some oak tannins. Flavors are jammy and lively with a lot of earthy brett funk and some fruity esters. Lots of jammy, slightly peppery red wine notes. Lively bubbles, dry, and funky. Good!

Bottle @ home. Not sure who sent this one to me in a trade but I’m sure he’s a hell of guy. Thanks man! A touch hazy, dark copper appearance with a creamy, off white head that has good retention. Slightly toasty, pale/caramel malty, light toffee, grapefruit citrusy, light piney aroma. Moderately piney, grapefruit citrus hoppy, toasty pale malty, light caramel flavor with a lingering bitter, dull citrusy aftertaste. Ok.
