Description
Ossett Brewery purchased the Fernandes Brewery and Pub in 2007. Proud of its heritage and under the watchful eye of head brewer Paul Spencer, Ossett Brewery has continued to brew many of the original beers, whilst also devising many new brews which have become firm favourites. Brewer, Steve Hutchinson, now brews around 90 different beers a year from the pale ‘Straw-Weight’ at 2.8% to impenetrable black, full bodied stouts, such as ‘Voodoo’ at 5.0%.

Tried at the Cardinals Hat, Lincoln. Dark almost black colour with a tan head. Roasted malt and a light chocolate aroma. Taste roasted malt and rich fruit. Nice.

Cask at Post Office Vaults; clear yellow pour with a bubbly white head, aroma has light citrus and grapefruit, taste has some grass, light grapefruit, lemon.

Cask at the bow bar... Clear golden yellow... Big white head.. Soft sweet lemon fruits nose.. Light floral custardy fruits nose.. Light dry lemon zezt.. Lemon fruits

Cask at the Guildford arms. Pours clear pale golden, nose is lemon and coconut, taste is sweet, toffee, coconut, light fruit.

Cask at the Post Office Vaults, Birmingham. Poured a clear straw colour with a frothy white head. The aroma is light skunky malt. The flavour is moderate bitter with a big creamy yeast fruity citrus hop palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Wakefield Beer Festival 2015. Certainly black. Has a good roasted malt aroma and taste, although a little thin in texture but palatable enough. Has a sweetness.

Huddersfield Oktoberfest 2015. Golden ale with a mild but tropically fruity enough to please in both aroma and taste.
