Bottle from Bottle Stop, Bramhall. Black with an extremely thin head. Very strong tasting, so much so not really finding the chocolate orange. It is mildly spiced though so some of the advertised taste is there.

Can, gift from Ruth. Hazy deep golden body with a thin off-white head. Low carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of nuts, pumpkin and melon. Flavour of marzipan and stewed pear. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. There’s a lovely sweetness to the malt base. The hops seem a little harsh.

With a name like “Afraid Of Sunlight” you would expect this to be a dark beer, but no it’s a golden IPA. Anyway, cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours a golden orange with a small white head. Malts, yeast and marmalade in the nose. Has a creamy texture with marmalade the main flavour, plus tangerine, tropical fruits and mango. Finish is somewhat bitter. Not bad at all – may rerate if I ever see it again.

Sample thanks to Grumbo: Poured a deep orange burnt color with a tan color head. Huge fruity bouquet, hops, malty, toffee, caramel. Taste is bitter hops, fruity, citrus, grapefruit, malty backbone, light caramel.

Keg @ The Pub (formerly Calans), Hebden Bridge. Pink-amber but more of the latter, and with a small head. Its cranberry is mildly tangy although there's a tad more sourness to proceedings.

Cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours a reddish brown with a small cream head and good lacing. Has an aroma similar to that of whisky. Alcoholic strength is immediately apparent in the mouth, with whisky and brandy flavouring. More subtle is the feeling of rich fruit cake with raisins, a creamy texture, ash and general smokiness. The finish is definitiely boozy ! One to be sipped and savoured.

15/5/2021. Can shared at the IpsCol beer share. Pours clear dark amber with a small frothy off-white head. Aroma of toffee, caramac bar, golden syrup, fruit, yeast. Medium sweetness and moderate bitterness. Medium body, soft carbonation.

24/4/2021. Can shared with D&J at the welcome to Eva beer share. From Beermoth, Manchester. Pours slightly hazy golden with a large frothy white head. Aroma of grapefruit, citrus, malt, grass. Moderate sweetness, bitterness and body. Average carbonation. Lasting grapefruit bitterness to finish. Not bad.
