Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours a golden yellow with a tight off-white head and good lacing. What aroma there is, is malty. In the mouth it starts off sweet, then becomes bitter and fruity. There is plenty of marmalade plus some plum skins and hints of mango. Finish is bitter-sweet. A bit strange, but not at all bad.

Handpull cask at the Kings Head, Leicester. Very dark gold, clear with a small foamy white head. Sweet aroma with red grape, bubblegum and floral notes. Sweet taste with a light tannic bitterness. Moreish but a little artificial. Medium to long finish, more grape, a little damson plum. Not the best beer in the world but very drinkable.

Handpull cask at the Kings Head, Leicester. It's a slightly atrificial-looking reddish gold. The white head, while small, shines brightly in contrast with the bear's hue. Light aroma, some raspberry, some soap, a bit of dried grass. Sweet taste, not too sweet, with a tannic bitterness, reminiscent of fruit iced tea. Watery body, low carbonation. Not terrible but not overly impressive.

Gravicask, third at the 33rd Swindon Beer Festival. Shared with Finn. Near black in the glass, naked at the top, dotted spots on the glass. Moderate aromas of earthy malts with hints of chocolate. Choco-coffee flavours followed by a short-lived roasted ending. Satisfying. (26.10.2019).

Handpull cask at Kynges Well, Brading, IOW. Light brown, slightly reddish. Flat with a bit of off-white head. Toffee, chocolate malt aroma with a slightly vinous smell. Sweet taste, very malt led but with a touch of bittering hop in the finish. More toffee, some homemade rye bread. Soft carbonation. As traditional as can be, but still worth trying.
