Handpull cask at the Kings Head, Leicester. Blonde, clear with a bit of a scummy white head. Light on aroma, but there's a bit of dried grass, some hay, a touch of citrus and possibly gooseberry. Bittersweet taste with nitablebitter hop in the finish. A lovely zesty flavour but possibly marred by slight off-notes such as butter and soap. Soft carbonation. Has some personality but a bit kf a hard sell.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours a hazy pale straw with minimal white head and good lacing. The aroma is a bit wishy-washy – some vague citrus and lemon. In the mouth it starts off sweet with citrus and lemongrass before morphing into bitterness with cereal grains. The citrus returns with a vengeance in the finish though. A decent IPA (until the finish) – I’d place it somewhere between a traditional English style and a West Coast.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours chrome yellow with a small white head and good lacing. Lemon and yeast in the nose. In the mouth it is somewhat watery, with flavours of lemon and floral hops. Some biscuits lurking beneath as well. Finish is slightly bitter. Not a bad beer, but instantly forgettable.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours a golden yellow with a tight off-white head and good lacing. What aroma there is, is malty. In the mouth it starts off sweet, then becomes bitter and fruity. There is plenty of marmalade plus some plum skins and hints of mango. Finish is bitter-sweet. A bit strange, but not at all bad.
