A brown ale with a thin mocha lacing head. In aroma, nice fruity chocolate malt with light coffee notes, light mineral notes, OK. In mouth, a nice chocolate malt with light coffee notes, grassy hops, smooth and quaffable. On tap at brewery.

Given to me by a friend, enjoyed on a 60 degree February afternoon in Chicago, IL which is pretty crazy. Appearance is pitch black with a light tan rim. Aroma is rich on the roasted malt and coffee notes. Taste is very good, bits of hazelnut, chocolate, not too boozy, overall good imperial stout.

Guest beer at Lagunitas Beer Circus. Mild malt smell with a big nose of banana. That could happen if the keg had been in a warm clime for a couple of hours, like it was here, even under a tent. Standard amber body under some head of fizz, seems ideal enough to say it’s perfect looking. Malty upfront taste that is fine as it is, a great lawnmower beer with just a little extra oomph.

First beer at the Lagunitas Beer Circus, and a nice start to the day. Looks for all the world like a stout. Smell is mostly grainy malt, but roast is quite light. Fizzy mouthfeel, warm chocolate roast malt flavor, but again, light on roastiness. Feels more nutritious, as a Guinness might be. A bit lighter on the sourness than the usual Guinness tribute.
