on tap at a restaurant in Furth im Wald. Was called Waldschmidt Helles, probably brewed by Hacklberg for Waldschmidt-Getränke Eschlkam. Golden yellow, large and persistent head. Well-balanced malty body with hoppy background. Dryer and hoppier towards the finish.

on tap in Eschlkam in the Bavarian Forest. Was named Waldschmidt Jakobi Weisbier, presumably brewed by Hacklberg for Penzkofer-Getränke Eschlkam. Waldschmit was a famous citizen of Eschlkam. Pale yellow colour, very cloudy, large head. Malty and fruity flavours, yeasty and slightly hoppy. Very enjoyable and thirst-quenching.

Very dark foxy-amber beer with an even, dense, creamy-yellow head. Short sharp greenery smell, followed by sweet, thick cake nose with molasses or treacle and chocolate. Bready, sweet, cake & short sourish (lactic) whiff in each sip. Quite rich, velvety MF as for a rich egg- and chocolate filled cake dough. Bit of rum & raisins too, or it is as if they would fit in naturally. Little near-bitterish finish, earthy. Alcohol remains mainly hidden, but there’s some telltale warming. Ah - sweet one, but nice one. Dessert Bock, if any.

Bottle. Chocolate cookie malt aroma, minerallic hop notes. Ruby red, creamy low brown head. Sweet somewhat sirupy base, a hint booze, light herbal counter. Medium, slightly sticky body. Molassis aftertaste.

Süßlich-hopfiger Geruch.

Test vom 27.12.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 8,9,12,10,9,11 - 10,30

Bottle: Pale golden, medium-sized, slowly diminishing white fluffy head; sweetish-grainy nose; sweetish flavour; grainy finish with a light acidic/citrousy fruitiness. A typical lower-bavarian brew: boring, grain-accented.............

Flip-top bottle: Golden coloured, huge fluffy head, sticking to the glass; fuller sweetish-grainy-dusty nose with shy hoppy spots; sweetish flavour, medium bodied; mainly sweetish-grainy finish with a slightly lingering bitterness. A chewy, decent brew...............

Flip-top bottle: Straw golden coloured, slightly hazy, smaller stable white head; stronger sweet-malty and a bit grainy nose, herbal-hoppy aromas in the background; robust sweetish flavour, light to medium bodied; sweetish-malty finish with a delicate, but nevertheless distinctive hoppy "tail". A tasty, hearty Bier
