Undated 375mL bottle drunk 7/28/23. Almost clear copper-bronze. White head instantly fizzles. Kind of smells malty again, but like, biscuit/cracker/bread and I'm not getting much, if any, Brett or oak. I guess some light, fruity Brett on the end. Yeah...kind of like the brabeum, it's sweet, malty, possibly underfermented with a bile-like character and no real clear Brett. White bread, simple sugar, more bile, grass...hmmm, not sure what's going on at this brewery's barrel program...

750mL bottle drunk 7/23/23. Peachy-bronze-copper. Off-white head to cover. Light sulfur, light bread/biscuit, caramel and other medium malts. Fruity, lightly acidic blackberry. Kind of tannic and grainy. Biscuity, crackery, gristy, light blackberry, lots of tannic, grainy malts. No oak, no mellow notes, blackberry is ok but there's an almost bile-like character. Not good malt depth. Hard to put your finger on it, but just not very well-done.

Brewery draught, 7/22/23. Clear, amber-bronze-cherry. Medium-sized white head sits at cover. Lovely, schlennie-like oak smoke, with salt, big pepper and hints of smoked meat. Barrel mellowing but not contributing bourbon at this point, which is probably for the best. Clean, crisp, good yeast signature. Soft up front, very malty, though drying through the middle with grainy malts and now I do get light bourbon with rich vanilla and a smokey sausage finish. Quite malty but good tannic dryness on the finish. Powerful smoke but not overdone in a Schlenkerla sense. No booze or flaw noted. Maybe just a shade too sweet for its size.

Murky orange, white head.  West Coast?  Nose has malt and some citrus, a little bland, very herbal.  Flavor is very malty on the verge of tannic, pithy and herbal.  Dry finish but full bodied and the wrong kind of bitter.  This is a miss.  Not bad, just a miss.  6 4 6 3 11

Sample at the brewery is a clear orange white head. Huge sausage and smoke nose, oak smoke and raw wood. Flavor has grain and malt, some honey, the smoke is big, like a peated scotch almost. Salty, smokey, sweet finish. Big.

Bottle: Poured a deep brown color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and good lacing. Aroma of caramelized malt notes with some candi sugar and some rum notes with some very faint blueberry notes. Taste is also a mix of very faint blueberry notes with some caramelized malt with a nice amount of residual sugar offset by woody rum barrel notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Well made blended with great flavor balance.
