Description
After a great reception from his hobby as an enthusiastic amateur brewer, Toby Mackenzie and his wife Caroline decided to expand and go full time establishing the award winning Red Willow brewery in 2010. Their aim was to make the types of beer that they like - full of flavour yet easy to drink. Red Willow now offer a range of beers that can be found in many local pubs and shops in cask

Half pint shared by Finn at NWAF ’13. Deep mahogany coloured body. Fruity nose nicely added by brittle caramel. Blended taste character of juicy and caramel malts. Good bitter support to the aftertaste. Nice and clean. One of my best at the festival (Manchester, 23.01.2013).

Cask at the Earl of Essex, London. Pours clear, red-brown with a faint, creamy tan cap. Milky chocolate in the aroma, some dirt. Light to medium sweet flavor, good cocoa, lightly roasty, mild ash. Light bodied with soft carbonation. Moderately roasty to finish with dark chocolate, some fruity and dark sugars, a bit of burnt wood, mellow earthy bitterness. Some bitter cocoa in thr aftertaste. Good stuff, though I can’t say I get much beetroot.

House ale from cask at Mark Addy in Salford, half pint.. Dark golden body, cloudy. Filmy layer blanketing the upper level of the glass. Citrus nose with peaches coming through. Hop fruity taste, partially perfumed, or maybe spicy, impression. Smooth fruit bitter end. Refreshing and well made session beer (Greater Manchester, 22.01.2013).

Keg at CP&K. It pours hazy golden with a medium yellow-white head. The nose is tangerine, mango, tangy marmalade, sweet fruit, sharp lemon, grass and pine. The taste is mango, tangerine, passion fruit, pine, resinous, sherbet, light spice, grass and straw with a bitter, lightly citric finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Flavoursome and very well balanced. Works well on keg, very tasty indeed.

Pepper. Passet ikke helt inn. Litt sedimenter igjen på flaska.

Bottle at home in London with Lyoli. Pours mostly clear, bright gold with a large, frothy white head. Rich ripe citrus nose, pectin, grapefruit, orange, some pine and grass. Medium sweet flavor, a bit of dank pine, smoked beechwood, orange, tangerine. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly resinous finish, slight hints of warmth, white wood, pine, grass, grapefruit, orange. Not overly bitter at any point, which is great. Good balance overall, with a good dank hop edge. Lovely.
