Bomber from Von’s Bishop. I was in the area and wanted to go to the Fest but tickets were all sold out. Nose is very lightly smoky with faint chile aroma, like someone had cooked some peppers on a skewer over a campfire the night before and left some slightly cooked as the coals burnt out. Very lightly hazed orange copper with a medium pale beige head. Flavor is mildly smoky with notes of pepper and caramel. Nice lightly smoked, lightly peppery ale, not overdone like so many chile and smoky ales are.

Bottle to glass. Very sweet grainy malt. Pours a clear orange-red with a white head that leaves a collar and slight lacing. A slightly cloying, syrupy malt taste that is light biscuit and soda cracker. Medium low bitterness. Thin mouthfeel does not work for this style.

From bottle to glass. Moderate citrus and caramel balance well. A little piney hops as well. Clear copper with white head. Flavor is biscuit malt with slight citrus hops arriving around mid-palate. Moderate bitterness. Overall, a nice, balanced easy-drinking beer.

Bottle from TWalls. Pours with clear deep amber hue with a medium-sized off-white head. Good retention and lace. Aromas are of light banana esters, caramelization, melanoidins, toasted malt, some raisins and dried fruit. Flavors are of: medium malt richness, somewhat dry finish, medium malt, lightly odd vegetal, medium fruity brown sugar, light melanoidins. Feels a bit thin. Nothing too off. Brown sugar, cereal and raisins with a dry finish. Fuller carbonation, a bit warming.

Spring 2013 bottle thanks to TWalls. Pours with a hazed golden yellow hued body and a large fluffy white head with good retention and lace. Aromas are of isoamyl acetate, spruce, herbal hops, peppery phenols, light Brett and pine, medium malt, low fusel alcohol. Something a touch spicy that I cannot place. Flavors are medium malty, biscuity and toasty, mildly earthy, clean, crisp, some earthy and lightly nutty notes, low tartness. Decent saison. Easy to drink. Peppery, earthy, odd spice finish. Not bad at all. A bit of (at least perceived) residual sweetness in the finish.
