12oz bottle. Deep brown-black with burgundy corners. Respectable beige head. Sweet and sugary, the barrel just adds to that, mixing in some vanilla and mild oak. A pretty decent brew, but quite sweet. Wouldn’t really have any desire to drink two of these in a row. Drinkable, no off tones, but the last thing a Baltic Porter needs is more sweetness. OK, maybe.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled in 3/2014. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep orange copper color with a 2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pineapple, peach, floral, grass, light pine, caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of juicy citrus hops, orange peel, and moderate malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of big tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, floral, grass, pine, caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity of citrus hop, orange peel, and moderate malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy, smooth, crisp, and fairly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good citrus spiced IPA. Good complexity and balance of citrus hops, orange peel, and moderate malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on. A nicely enjoyable offering.

The appearance had a clear yellow body with a one finger white foamy head that concaves a bit and softly clings to the edges, nice lookin’ filmy head of a valley appears after a minute. Some carbonation is seen rising.
The smell was a light citrus, lil’ bit of bubblegum but really subdued, light wheat.
The taste took all of the previously mentioned flavors combined nicely, sweet sticky aftertaste and finish.
The palate was light and sessionable. Carbonation seems a bit under-carbonated for the style but actually I think I’m starting to like my APWA’s this way, becomes a bit smooth and creamy.
Overall, actually, I think I like this one, it would be great on a hot summer day, despite the other reviews on this one, I say give it a try. There’s a nice refreshing quality to this beer and probably doesn’t have enough hops for the hopheads to go crazy about, but hey, its an APWA, whaddaya expect.

Crisp clear golden and light amber coloured body with a thinnish, soapy two centimetre tall head. Aroma of alcohol, resin, grapefruit, grass and some floral hop notes, all with a bit of sugar and some moderate yeast. Medium to Full-bodied; Deep grassy, herbal and resinous hop characteristics with a nice malt backbone, some subtle peach and pomelo sweetness, but quite a lot of bitterness noticeable from the hops. Aftertaste shows some good alcohol notes, a pleasant level of complexity and solid bitterness on the end without being too cloying. Overall, a surprisingly nice Imperial IPA that I wasn’t expecting much from the ratings here. My bottle shows a good deep bitterness without being pungent or showing too much alcohol. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 02-August-2013 for US$2.99 sampled at home in Washington on 22-February-2014.

Tap at tap house Munich. Light roast and fruity nose. Black, big brown, slightly reddish head. Light chocolate roast under cherries. Falls flat after that, no chewy follow through , no dry spiciness. Ok chocolate cherries in the aftertaste.
