500 ml bottle. Hazy amber orange color. Small creamy beige head. Nice lacing. Subtle biscuit malt nose. Notes of citrus and Darjeeling tea. Grainy toasted malt flavor with hints of tobacco and more brewed tea. Light citrus hops in finish.

On tap @ the Haymarket, Edinburgh. Pours dark amber with a thin head. The nose has toffee and apples. More toffee apple on the taste but without any hoppy freshness to balance this, The palate is medium bodied and textured with unfortunately a cloying finish. Overall, not the worst but won’t return for another.

Copper coloured with a small head. It’s slightly sweet with some fruits and a general biscuit flavoured malt that provides the best taste.

Golden ale with a small head. It’s hopped based with a good aroma, slightly drier in the palate with a general fruitiness.

Dark golden ale, clear without a head. It has an intensely sweet aroma which is not quite as pronounced in its taste, but still up there.

Hand-pulled pint in my local Wetherspoons on 16 Mar 2013: into a UK pint sleeve. Lovely looking brew deep copper (almost mahogany in the dim light of the pub) body with a creamy head, the head was both creamy in colour and texture, it also left some heavy lacing on my glass: the beer was in excellent condition. The smell was malty and woody. Taste wise it was again malty, with toffee notes, and although sweetish, it was also dry in the mouth. Mini bitterness towards the end of each sip, but this is mainly a malty brew and the hops don’t really get a look in.

bottle - Pours an almost ruby red with virtually no head. It has a mild caramel malt aroma. The flavor is of sweet caramel malt and maybe a touch of dark fruit. ESB? Really? The hops are barely noticeable. They just keep it from being overwhelmingly sweet. This beer would probably be better from a cask. Okay but underwhelming. Speaking of casks, especially seeing as how it’s an English ale, shouldn’t there be separate entries for the cask and bottled versions?

Dobre premium Ale. Spora czapa piany, która bardzo długo się utrzymuje na powierzchni. Ciemny miedziano-brązowy kolor i nawet spore wysycenie jak na Brytyjskie Ale.

Cask at Free Press, Cambridge. Pours clear gold with a lingering white froth. Orange citrus in the aroma. Light to medium sweet flavor with dry pale malts, light hay. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Faintly dry to finish with some citric lemon, dry hay, simple pale malts. Very basic stuff. A bit light on character, though not offensive.
