Dark amber, clear; preposterously huge yellow-brown head, going down lacey. Vanilla, bit of chocolate malts, later more herbal, nearly piney. Dark malts prevail in the taste, but the beer is neutral rather than sweet-bitter; neither is it ale-like, like the Winterbier, despite the shared ABV. Slightly chocolatey, slightly spicey, slightly tobacco. Rather empty mouthfeel. Aftertaste is a late bittering onset, slightly hoppy in character. Nothing wrong, but all good things to say about it, have to be preceded with the word "slightly".

(draught) Very carbonated, very dense yellow froth, lacey; dark amber ale, totally clear. Crystal and other ale malts in the nose - and a whiff of Brettanomyces. Sweet main taste, crystal malts, faint overlying bitterness. No Brett/tartness in the taste. Slight velvety, slick mouthfeel. Medium-bodied. Ale-like aftertaste. Rather disappointing overall. I wonder how much this differs from the regular Petrus ale. (Retasted 1/30 I'm wondering even more - a new tap yielded, especially in the taste (much less nose) a Cola-like spice combination, like mint, rosewater, cinnamon, rosemary) on top of a more malty base. The beer seemed darker too. Points changed accordingly.

Orange brown color, medium frothy off-white head. Aroma is heavy sugar cane, some spices and a typical alcohol sweet fruitiness (hard to describe what my senses tell me). Sweet taste, some caramel malts. A bit belly warming even. OK brew.

White body colour, white head. The body isn't transparant and has lots of little bubbles. The head is quite homogeneous. A typical white-beer aroma (sweet hoppy). A litlle bit bitter flavour.

Dark amber color. Strong aroma; cherries and vinegar. Quite dry, not too much sour, but with a background bitter note out of place. Average Oud Bruin.

Cloudy golden colour with a large-bubbled white head. Smells of green apples, spices and a bit of wheat. Medium-bodied; Strong fruity yeast characteristics with some malt thrown in. Aftertaste fairly clean, but nice and fruity. Overll, pretty good for a belgie white! I bought this 33 cL bottle at Green's Beverages in Atlanta, Georgia and sampled it on 26-September-2003.

Dark brown color; generous brownish head. Delicate aroma: malt, roasted malt; sweet. Good body structure, some sweetness but correctly balanced by the hop and some carbonic acidity; some liquorice; very light roasted. Ordinary palate. Must be improved by a better hop character.

re-rate: Cloudy tan colour. Aroma is more to the footy, mushroomy yeast side of things than to anything else, though there is a bit of doughy (there’s that yeast again) malt. Fresh, somewhat biscuity, malt character with a hint of spice and florals. The yeast is toned down quite a bit on the palate, but still lends a bit more foot than I want, like background feedback on my CD. Slight notch higher.

The aroma is powerful; sour and acidic with notes of sweetness and sharpness. The color is deep red, almost brown and it has a fine light brown head, though fast disappearing. The flavor is sweet, wellbalanced and round - the sharpness must have been taken by the oak-casks. But the sharpness lies hidden. A fantastic flavor, though a little thin in the middle before it starts prickling the tongue.

Typical belgian tripel color. Some very sparkly effervescence though. Aroma is tart yet sweet, like a apple-cranberry sweet and sour sauce. Definitely a little bit of the pear/tart apple cider aroma. Very tart to begin with, but has a rich honey flavor on the back of the palette. Finishes with a chewy yellow raisin texture/flavor that is very tasty!! While I am extremely impressed with the aftertaste/finish, I do not care for the initial overly tart/dry flavor, that is too big up front and lurking.
