Hazy straw colour. Thick head. Creamy corn nose, with some straw. Soft body with a little spiciness late. Fresh but very creamy malt/corn character, and a mild bitterness. Only a hint of dryness. Well-made, but would have trouble holding my interest for long.

Okay, I read Bill's rating and I'm thinking 'what's wrong with that?' Golden with a substantial nose (brett, fruit, wine - reminds of Rodenbach Red). The body is light, vibrant, complex, acidic. So drinkable, so refreshing. If you like this, check out Vapeur d'Antan.

Red-brown. Malty and vinuous with toffee flavour and some tart sourishness.

Pale amber coloured. Rather sweet, rather neutral flavour. Low bitterness. Nothing too special, but still rather nice as a session ale.

Pale golden coloured, very lively. Spicy, grassy. Subtle but comlex flavours. Medium bodied, rather sweet. Low bitterness.

Blond ale. Nice hop aroma. Really dry, gets smoother as it gets warmer. Heavy body, but it lacks of flavours, just hop character. Good final, medium aromatic. Good but not distinctive.

An interesting example of the style. Has a rich maltiness that is undercut by a fairly sharp acidity, but by no means overwhelming acidity. Fruitiness is more prevalent here than in Rodenbach. Deep mahogany colour, a lot of cherry in the aroma. Wonderfully refreshing, though, which is key to this style.
2 years old:
Amber-burgundy colour is lovely. Fruity, woody aroma with grapes. Very wine-like. Effervescent body. The malts have fermented out a bit, but really this hasn't changed all that much. Sweet caramel, woody, plummy, cherryish notes abound, but little else. Just enough acidity to be quenching. Not bad, but doesn't appear to benefit from aging. Vintage rating: 3.2

Ok, so I don't lick urinals in my spare time, but I will say this about the beer...it is a fairly typical Belgian session ale, what anglophones like to call 'Belgian Pale Ale'. It looks pretty good with its copper hue, fine bead and just the right amount of foam; the aroma carries yeast, pears, and a touch of pepper; the palate has a firm maltiness, delicate fruitiness (bosc pears and empire apples, to be totally pretentious about it), hints of clover honey and herbal hops (styrians would be my guess). The finish is dry, and gets lean like a German pils right at the end.

Furious carbonation; pale gold colour; dryly herbal, spicy aroma (sage, styrians); smooth malt, interestingly hoppy; flavours meld well together.
2 years old: Bright, orangey amber; perfumey, peachy and appley with bready malts. Light malt underpins a pear-like fruity note. Slightly toasty, with alcohol. Slightly different, same score.

Rather understated for a Belgian winter ale. Spices are very mild..........
