Taster showing dark gold to pale amber with half a finger of clean white foam.

The nose shows moderately intense notes of round bready saison malt.

The palate is well carbonated and light bodied. Mild sweetness with round malts throughout and a mild bitterness on the finish.

Slightly hazy bright gold with a white head. Refreshing. Light spice, light fruit, and light yeast. Enjoyable but not a ton of character.

I picked this up in a souvenir shop in Kobe’s Harborland. Rokko White Dai Dai Ale 5% Nice cloudy straw gold but like the Omi White the head retention sucks, especially for a white beer. Decent soft daidai citrus in the aroma but the flavor is a rough aggressive spice coriander then some fruit in the finish. It grew on me but neither of these two Japanese witbiers were all that good.

Rokko Hyuganatsu Beer 5% Only sold by JR West apparently for about 5-600¥. Hazy gold with a slight orange tint and yeasty hyuganatsu citrus aroma. The taste is a touch tart citrus and hints of wheat/Weizen/Belgian wit spice. It could be the setting but this is pretty good, I’m surprised as it’s easily a top ten beer I’ve had from Rokko.

Interesting. Muscat maybe. Bit tart. Maybe not off, but works for me to get rid of the New Englandness. Something a bit Belgian even. So basically, liked it more because it didn't taste like an NE IPA. Which is maybe what it was supposed to taste like.

Tap at Zest Oike. Said to be a blend of their fruited pilsner, IPA, and brown ale, which was then aged for a year. Hazy pale orange with a nice head. Nose is grapefruit, apple, caramel, a bit oxidized. Flavor is rich caramel, oxidized by aging, grapefruit. Interesting aging such a light beer. Pretty tasty though would be better if it was stronger.

Initial big mango, afterwards still tropical. Good stuff.
