Description
The Virginia Beer Company is a brewery + taproom + beer garden in Williamsburg, VA. The brewery was founded in 2016 by two graduates of nearby William & Mary, who were joined by a brewmaster out of SweetWater Brewing in Atlanta. Four year-round beers are complemented by a boundary-pushing rotation of limited edition beers including Experimental IPA's, Barrel-Fermented Brett Saisons, and Barrel-Aged Imperial Stouts, among many other diverse styles.

$2.69 can from Total Wine, Gainesville. Pours black with an inch of dark brown head. Aroma is milk chocolate, roasted malt, coffee. Flavor is creamy milk chocolate, coffee, earth, roasted malt. Hint of char. Good stuff.

$2.24 can from Total Wine, S. Richmond. Pours hazy amber with an inch of beige head. Aroma is citrus peel -mostly grapefruit, some pine, rye. Flavor is rye, grapefruit peel, earth, light metal.

Can: Poured a copper color with creamy off-white head. Aroma is fruit juice hops. Taste is fruity pineapple with malt balance, lots of yeast in this can.

Bottle at the GBBF 2018 day 2 08/08/2018. A light hazed bright yellow straw coloured pour with a halo of white head. Aroma is little pollen citrus, floral citrus, wheat, pine needles. Little old school. Flavour is composed of little toffee, asserting pine, oily, needle hop. Assertive pine hop. Good.

Can split at GBBF '18, day 2, 08/08/18. Hazed golden orange with a well presented off white covering. Nose is orange pith, light dank chimes, melon, citric tinged straw. Taste comprises bitter orange, pine dusting, grassy bite, melon, grapefruit. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with balanced hop bitterness and light dank kick. Decent enough easy drinking IPA.

Can from GBBF 2018 and drunk on a train. Dark amber brown colour lasting beige head. Some malty flavour . Good hop and bitterness on the finish. Quite malty but a good balance. Light spice from the rye. Decent enough

Tap. Pours black, small tan head, good lacing. Aroma is rummy, cocoa, ashtray, maple syrup. Flavors is medium sweet, light plus bitter, roasty. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. This one does pretty well with the barrel treatment given the low ABV. 5,7,8,5,14
