Description
The Virginia Beer Company is a brewery + taproom + beer garden in Williamsburg, VA. The brewery was founded in 2016 by two graduates of nearby William & Mary, who were joined by a brewmaster out of SweetWater Brewing in Atlanta. Four year-round beers are complemented by a boundary-pushing rotation of limited edition beers including Experimental IPA's, Barrel-Fermented Brett Saisons, and Barrel-Aged Imperial Stouts, among many other diverse styles.

Can split at GBBF '18, day 2, 08/08/18. Hazed golden orange with a well presented off white covering. Nose is orange pith, light dank chimes, melon, citric tinged straw. Taste comprises bitter orange, pine dusting, grassy bite, melon, grapefruit. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with balanced hop bitterness and light dank kick. Decent enough easy drinking IPA.

Can from GBBF 2018 and drunk on a train. Dark amber brown colour lasting beige head. Some malty flavour . Good hop and bitterness on the finish. Quite malty but a good balance. Light spice from the rye. Decent enough

Tap. Pours black, small tan head, good lacing. Aroma is rummy, cocoa, ashtray, maple syrup. Flavors is medium sweet, light plus bitter, roasty. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. This one does pretty well with the barrel treatment given the low ABV. 5,7,8,5,14

Can. Hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Smooth palate, mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth pale malts bring a light creamy sweetness. Smooth pine and brief flash of fresh orange juice before a decent bitterness kicks in. Touches of peach and grapefruit. Smooth finish. Good stuff, very drinkable.

ABV: 6.2%. Clear dark brown colour with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, oat, roasted, dark malt, moderate coffee and chocolate. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, roasted, oat, dark malt, moderate chocolate nad coffee. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20180810]

Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, sweet malt, fruity malt, moderate hoppy, citrus, fruity hops, sweet hops, tropical fruit. Flavor is moderate sweet and light moderate bitter with a long to average duration, tropical fruit, citrus, fruity hops, pale malt, sweet malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20180809]
