Medium, fast gone cream head over dark brown, reddish shot beer. I Jap /I , liquorice, dark malts, wood, mild roast. Way more dry in the mouth, with even a bit ashy flavour, even tobacco not far off. Hints at cookies with black chocolate. Medium bodied at best, good carbonation. Surprisingly good, "zoethout" made me fear the worst, but this turns out to be one of the best try outs of Het Gansje!

Receding yellow-cream head over red-shot orange-brown beer. Bit woody nose, brown candi sugar, chocolate, melanoidins, bit nutty. Sourish in the mouth on top of malty & chocolatey notes. I wouldn't say 'nutty', but the wry, tannine tang from walnutpeel is definitely there. I still suspect brown candi sugar. For once, a Gansje that doesn't feel watery, good. Wry, almost astringent. Medium bodied and not very carbonated. OK.

Head reduced to whitish rim over redbrown, opaque beer. Roasted malts, chocolate malt, bit ashy but sweet. Dry-ish, ashy-ish and sweet-ish (mostly in the background). Roasted malts, again with an ashy streak. In the finish, there's a good dash of stout acidity. As with many's the Gansjes' beers, its Achilles heel is the body and MF - too thinnish, too watery. Medium carbonation. Nowhere bad, but there is ample margin for improvement.

Veiled golden beer with a small white head. Bit fruity nose, like white grapes, also a tad metallic. Bitterish with again a fruity, sweetish undercurrent. Rather 'hot' for bottom fermenting ( which it apparently is). Again white grape juice. Light, bit watery, not very carbonated. Fruity - usually that's esters. Strange for a Pilsner.

Good, tinted white head over (cold) hazy ochre-golden beer. Nutty, yeasty, even a bit dusty nose. Old autumn leaves. Bit leafy, metallic. Again this dusty, chalky streakm and a grapey flavour (the yeast again). Rather flat, medium carbonated. Faintly slick and light body. If I got the explanation right, this Altbier (!) was brewed with bottom fermenting yeast. Contradictio in terminis, but in a time when stouts are made with cocos, and IPA's with kveik - why not?

Short-lived white rim; veiled pale yellow beer. Bit spicy, herbal nose, bit sharpish. Linden/lime - possible, but below identification treshold in the nose. Taste however immediately says pure lindenblossomtea from yesteryear. Sweet, but nowhere cloying. The finish even sports a flavour that almost suggests the lemon+honey addition to the tea. Light body, mild carbonation, slowly fading flavours. Not half bad! One of their better tries!

Medium to good cream head, reasonably stable and fine bubbled, over dark, unclear brown beer. Chocolate, chocolate truffles, liquorice, bit of marzipan, pastry, dry wood. Light-sourish wood and chocolate. Melanoidins, dark malts in force. Again a bit like Be pralines , truffles. Finish is a tad drier, but still sweet, very little bitterness. Well bodied, if not really thick. Very good carbonation, almost spritzy, yet velvety texture. Certainly not bad. For what it is worth with those styles, I would imagine a classical quadrupel more dense, viscous, and stronger. This however is not quite unlike a strong dark Walloon ale.

Dark, veiled cola-coloured beer with a huge, dwindling brownish yellow head. Perfumey nose, dark candi sugar, melanoidin-rich malts, faintly sweet. No cinnamon in the nose, but for a very vague cola-aroma. Dry, woody flavour, dark malt dominated. Cinnamon once more limited to a vague reminiscence of cola. Dark bread. Warming up, the cinnamon finally reaches identification treshold... more or less. Feels rather well-bodied, probably more than in reality. Good carbonation, very slick. If it weren't for the hazy, this might be held for homemade cola. And to deepen the mystery, the ingredients' list has no mentionning of cinnamon whatsoever.

Huge just-yellowish head, fed by finely carbonated light metallic-copper beer. Bit diary, caramel, toasted malts, white candi sugar. Indeed fusely yeast, 'hot', sweetish-toasted, malty. Bit of herbs. Medium bodied, bit slick, good carbonation. OK, I can get the "Belgian" claim. It's definitely a pale ale. It's just that 'I' as in IPA I don't dig... Hops, please? Bought at the brewpub
