330ml bottle in 13i, a sports bar with a decent beer list in Valkenburg; 3rd November 2025. Amber body, clear and bright, white crust on top. Hoppy with a piney, earthy feel rather than citrusy, some late orchard fruit type hints mid sip, decent bitterness without going over the top.

0.33 l bottle from 'DeBiersalon.nl', best before August 2025. Hazy, amber with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, white head. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity-floral and minimally spicy aroma of grains, corn flakes, some lemon peel and hints of honey. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter, slightly dry, gently fruity-floral and a little spicy taste of corn flakes, grains, honey, some lemon peel and hints of coriander, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly dry finish. Almost medium-bodied, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Quite okay, not really Wit-like though.

A small bottle from the tasting room in Maastricht, drunk at Dad’s place while home on holiday. Aroma: malty, some soya sauce. Appearance: semi-opaque oxtail soup, no head to speak of. Palate: full-bodied and oily on the tongue, soft carbonation; finish is long, sticky, boozy. Taste: heavily sweet, rock candy, caramel, more malt, some soya sauce. I like the booze, but overwhelmed by the sweetness.

NL/BEL excursion day 4: at their tasting room in Maastricht, a small one, keg. Aroma: rather sour, 70s era homebrew. Appearance: semi-opaque lemon amber, head is negligible. Palate: full-bodied, average carbonation; finish is alcohol-fuelled with unexpected dryness. Taste: medium-sweet, complex and well-balanced. Rock candy is understated and palatable; almond, vanilla, a hit of lemon. Alcohol kick in the face, an extremely satisfying beverage.

Palate: medium-bodied and slick, average carbonation; plenty of malt at the finish, with a nice bitter bite. Taste: medium-bitter, maltloaf, some almond; clean drinking, enjoyable.
