(Draught at Ölbaren, Copenhagen, 17 May 2007) Pitch black colour with lasting brown head. Roasted, creamy nose with chocolate and coffee, lots of both, but mingling well together. Roasted taste with dark bitter chocolate, coffee, chocolate pudding, hints of cream, roasted oatmeal and ... more chocolate. Balanced bitterness, some sweetness. Rather full body, velvety mouthfeel. Loads of taste but in such harmony that it just sits at the back of the tongue, lingering. Superb balance. Absolutely lovely beer.

[Another century celebrated with a Mikkeller beer - this time 8300] Cask. A pitch black beer with a bubbly brown head. The aroma is of very dark bitter sweet dessert chocolate, and ground cocoa beans combined with light notes of grapefruit and coffee. The flavor is very complex with notes of dark bitter chocolate, grapefruit, good coffee, and a good deal of hops, giving it a nicely bitter finish.

(On tap) Completely pitch black and opaque with a tiny, light brown head. Intense aroma of roasted malt and sweetish, dried fruit - dates in particular. Extremely full-bodied - you almost have to cut your way through this - but flat, completely flat. Extremely vinous - this is like a good port. The malt base is extreme with notes of cough syrup and a shipload of dried fruit. The sweetness is excessive. The alcohol burn is extreme in the finish. Very delicate but extremely unbalanced. A sipper - over the whole of an evening! 120507

Draught @ Københavnske Øldage 2007 in Copenhagen. Sampel #1 Black color with small virtually none head. Aroma is heavy malty, dark chocolate, coffee, soya sauce, dried dark fruits, alcohol. Flavor is heavy sweet light to moderate acidic and moderate to heavy bitter with a long duration. Body is full, texture is syrupy / oily, carbonation is flat, finish feel is moderate alcoholic. Sampel #2 Black color with a average frothy good lacing mostly lasting brown head. Aroma and flavor the same as #1. Just enorm and a extreme stout signed Mikkeller. ;o))

Bottle: Poured a deep black color stout with a huge dark brown foamy head with some really good retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry coffee is well mix with some light roasted malt note. Taste is a nicer mix between some dry coffee and some nice lightly sweet roasted malt. Body has a great creamy texture which really fits with the style. I also found that this beer had some great carbonation with no alcohol being discernable. I have to admit that this beer was well brewed with some great balance between coffee and malt with a nice texture.
