On tap @Brasserie 4:20 (Rome). Pours cloudy golden with minimal head. Aroma of wild yeasts, cellar, hay, funk, fruits, oak. Flavour is medium sour with oak notes, light smoke. Medium body, light carbonation. Rough, but charming.

(Czech IPA). Very cloudy tan, nice frothy head, the character is maybe a bit strange. There is nice sweetness up front but the hops are staining - not great IPA hops, not bright enough, ok well some body had to try it. Moderate bitterness, actually a fairly nice pale malt character.

Has a floral and a bit honeyish nose. Sweetish, toasty palate but a little dull around the edges, old maybe.

Fare thee well Josh tasting at Bruce’s. Thanks to Colin. Hazy dark gold beer, small bubbly white head. Palate is smooth, light and dry. Mild fine carbonation. Oxidised tasting caramel malt. Mildly bitter piney hops. Light dry finish. Not terrible but it doesn’t feel right for this brewer.

Bottle shared at Josh’s Farewell Hoorah - acquired from Brasserie 4:20 some 10 days prior, 20/02/14. Hazed orange/light amber with a moderate off white covering. Nose is damp flannel, dank hops notes, bitter orange, straw, light peach, lightly oxidised effect. Taste comprises toffee apple, earthy resonance, bread dough, bitter orange, over ripe melon. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Not great, pretty sub par for style, I’m sure the bottle had a use by date later into 2014 but this felt like it had been sitting around for a while. Sorry guys!

Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours murky golden brown with a small beige head. The nose is dirty, stewed orange, peach, earthy, wood, must and faint spice. The taste is wood, earth, dirt, orange peel, faint peach, light alcohol and grapefruit with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Very ho hum. So-so.

Bottle shared in London as our way of saying goodbye to Josh. Thanks to Colin. Pours hazy gold with a bubbly white head. The nose has caramel, bread and lightly toasted pine. Light sweet flavor, pretty thin, perhaps a bit oxidized. Some further caramel, bread, orange, pine. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, more bread, caramel, faint metal. Pretty poor.

Keg at Brasserie 4:20, 09/02/14. Lightly hazed orange amber with a good sized semi off white head that retains well. Nose is a tropical fruit jamboree, mandarin, hop presence, light booze, pine, touch of grapefruit. Taste comprises earthy hops, orange pithdom, straw, pine, light grapefruit. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, subtle hop bitterness in the close. An easy drinking DIPA, not massively hopped and not to draw but solid enough, would be a good intro DIPA to someone who isn’t familiar with the style.

11/12/2013 Brasserie 4.20 (tap). Ambrata, carica, abbastanza limpida, schiuma biancastra abbondante. Al naso sentori di luppolo, note erbacee, fruttato (fragola), malto. In bocca è bilanciata, attacco maltato e finale molto amaro, lungo e persistente. Corpo medio, superiore alle attese, carbonazione media. Non male.
