12 oz. can, pours a clear pale blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out semi-sweet apples, with a hint of acidity, and gentle floral notes. Flavour is medium sweet, with light apple skins, a hint of skins, but no elderflower detected. Pretty ordinary, but it's pleasant.

Quite sweet, has a tart eating apple sort of character, and no real elderflower. Hmm.

Can at Pasture restaurant in Auckland, served in a broad wine glass, paired with their 'pig crumpet', a pork infused pastry. Huge apple funk on the nose, exceptional even, cheese and apple working in harmony. Great orange body and a bit of head. Flavour is all messy funky apples with yeast and fresh hay, rotting cheese. Full crispness and fully natural, there is everything to like about this cider that really feels like it connects with the earth.

12oz can from Covenhoven in BK. The new & interesting on the tap list was stronger than the shelf stock this day, but I did find one unique tick. Ommegang anniversary glass. Pours out the color of Beaujolais. That not quite deep enough color to be purple or raspberry. Still thin enough to see through. This boysenberry cider smells quite a lot like black raspberry. Little bit of earth, little bit of strawberry jam, lots of skin from all kinds of fruit. Taste is refreshingly light on sugar & strong on fruit & tannins. Thin, slightly sparkly body. An intense dark berry flavor with all the right acidity & a slight kick of lingering bitterness. Now, it is a bit sweet, but it’s cut off by a cranberry-like tartness flush to the end. Apple could be stronger, but it’s there, in more obvious ways than a box of cran-apple Juicy Juice. Really enjoyed this.

Bottle. Crisp pear flavor, nice acidity. Lot to no tannins, bit quite sharp overall to balance the rich fruit. Touch of funk also helps. Clean and tasty.

Can at Maakun’s. Clear pale straw with no head. Apples! Dry and some light sour juicy ones, some hay, somewhat woody too. Light sweet and quite bitter. Can shared. Clear golden with short lasting small fizz. Very dry dusty apple, light funk, dry oak, apple peel, light cow, hay, moss, light alcohol. Light bitter and very light tart. About medium bodied with soft carbonation and very dry finish. Brut nature stuff here. But nice to see a NZ cidery going on the funky path.
