Bottle split at RBWG ’15 hotel lobby share on the final night, thanks to whomever shared this one, 21/02/15. Black with a decent tan covering. Nose is roast malt, chocolate, spice, tar, dark fruit rinds. Taste comprises chocolate, liqourice, spice, dark malt, fruit cake. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with light warming alcohol. Ok impy but a touch pedestrian.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 7/31/2015. Pours fairly crystal clear deep reddish brown color with a 2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big raisin, plum, fig, banana, clove, light bubblegum, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/chocolate, light herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity and balance of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, fig, banana, clove, light bubblegum, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/chocolate, light herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal bitterness/yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, fig, banana, clove, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted biscuit, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and slightly slick mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome weizenbock. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.
