Bottle, at home. Some taste of malt and hops. The head disappears quickly. The ABV is not felt immediate! Yellow colour? This is not a Christmas beer according to Danish traditions.

(On tap) Comes as "Thisted Forsøgsbryg 25A". Clear amber with a creamy, off-white head. Light roasted caramelish aroma with some typical Thisted notes, that I cannot really pinpoint. Sweetish caramel malt, a bit low in carbonation and a dry hoppy finish. Is it the hops that define the Thisted house character? 281005

Bottle. As this one was brewed by Urban until 1986, and I had a bottle made by that brewery, I had to taste it. Not sure how old it was, there were no indications of date. It poured an almost clear, dark brown body, with a minimal head, actually next to none. There were chocolate, licorice, dried fruits, some smoke and a touch of oxidation in the aroma, the kind of aroma one could sniff for minute after minute. The flavor didn’t reach the same level of joy, but was still good, with licorice, roasted malt, some oxidation, a touch of cigar and a vague bitterness. Rather thin in the mouth, but lovely! Rating: 8-4-7-3-15-3.7 (071228)

Bottled. Black with nice, cramy, tan head. Heavy roasted malts and coffeebeans in aroma. Lightly smoked aroma too. Flavor of dark, bitter chocolate, roasted malts and hops. Some salty licorice in the back. Finishes with a nice medium bitterness that lasts for a while. I was advised to put a bottle or two away for a couple of years, and so I did. Looking forward to taste them in 2008 or maybe later. (051109)

(Bottle 33 cl) Limited Christmas release experimental brew. Very beautiful, clear, dark amber with a creamy, off-white head. Light fruity caramel aroma. Solid body with pronounced alcohol. Distinct, sweetish notes of caramel in the flavour. Weak, spicy notes - of cloves the brewer claims - but only as esters. No spices are added. In spite of no less than six different hop varieties the beer is not overly hoppy but ends on a surprisingly dry note. 241005

Bottle. Black colour, creamy head. Very flavourful, but less uncompromising than the original. The aftertaste is what IMHO makes the most difference from the original, it is quite weak here. Some alcohol in aftertaste, though.

Bottle. Dark red colour, stable head. Good bitterness, a little rough. Flavour has a tiny hint of fruitiness. Not so complex, but nice enough.
